Instance admins can add images to be used as emojis via the emoji picker. rabbit

If enough fart gets blocked up, that butt plug is becoming a projectile.

Matrix isn’t integrated into lemmy: if you want to have an account for that, you’ll have to make one on a matrix server. Matrix.org is the mainstream one. I see you’re a hexbear user, so genzedong.xyz may also interest you.

The only “integration” at the moment is a UI shortcut for messaging an associated matrix account.

It’s a completely different service/protocol. Activitypub (the protocol lemmy and similar fedi software uses to federate) is not well suited for encrypted communications. The main motivation is maintaining privacy.

Send message sends a DM over lemmy. It is possible for instance admins to see these.

If you have a matrix account listed on your profile, send secure message will DM you over Matrix instead.

It’s the slur filter. What specifically gets filtered is up to instance admins.

Custom emojis are supported in regular lemmy. However, it’s up to the admins of your instance to make some available. If the admins don’t add any, the emoji picker just has boring normal emojis.

Not a catch phrase, but one day my grandfather showed up at the house unannounced asking me to bury his pet cat that had recently died in my back yard.

There is an emacs client for lemmy called lem.el, although I haven’t used it and it doesn’t seem to be far in development.

I think the only lemmy clients at the moment are web based or mobile apps.

I think it was when it was first coined, but it’s been used unironically for awhile.

What is the difference between linked instances and allowed instances?
I've contributed to the project for a few months and used it for over a year and I still don't know the difference. I think I asked the maintainers once, but I forget the answer.

Default Profile Pictures: Yes? No? Something else?
I recently made a PR for [default PFPs](https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/pull/1339). I was thinking of using using a priority of user set pfp > instance default pfp > Lemmy lemming. Is this something people would actually want? **Edit**: randomly generated pfps could work too.

Ideas for an alternative lemmy frontend?
cross-posted from: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/647564 Cross posting this here as this is would likely interest other people in the Lemmy part of the fediverse. I'll still contribute to the official UI too, though. > The other day I started making a UI for lemmy with a different framework than is used by the official one as a way of getting some hands on experience with SolidJS. I considered making a clone of the existing UI, but I started thinking that I could make it look different. Since lemmy doesn't tie you to a specific UI, it could be nice to give instances another option. At the moment, the only web UIs I know of for lemmy is the official one and the bulletin board one. Does anyone have any ideas about this?
