Fucking facebook is the worst.
While I never used tiktok: why FB and not TikTok? Or did it get so much worse since I stopped using it 10 years ago?
Edit fb is terrible because boomers hunt for you there and the “everyone’s life is so fucking perfect” thing makes you depressive. Especially because it mostly shows you people you know in Reallife. But since everyone started sharing TikTok shit I have a feeling that it is:
But that is just my opinion man…
In truth, all corporate, algorithm-based social media is vile. The fediverse is an order of magnitude less toxic.
App? TikTok which is literally a spyware.
Platform? Tie between Facebook and TikTok
Official Reddit app. Utter trash.
Terrible company and interface, some pockets of good community and conversation though.
X
Can we refuse to call it that? Still call it Twitter, it must not get inside minds
I like calling it that. Whatever good Twitter had is dead imo. X is what it is.
Truth Social?
LinkedIn?
The people who really engage with LinkedIn have no life outside of work
I’ve always wondered why anyone ever started using that platform. They literally steal your address book from your computer (looking at you, Windows users) and email everyone you’ve ever had contact with claiming that this user intentionally sent you an email to join linkedin. I used to reply to everyone who sent me the spam, and none of them had any idea linkedin was doing that.
I think most of them are bots too.
This is turning into a cesspit of toxicity rather than a discussion. This doesn’t necessarily break a rule but I can’t see how it’s helpful beyond letting people vent negativity.
Nextdoor
I want to start a new discussion. “Which category would you like to sell your item in?” …wtf?
I want to give something away for free. “You cannot sell an item without including a picture.” It’s a fucking pile of scrap lumber.
Is that still even running? Tried it years ago, my area was dead and just full of ads. Very surprised when they actually sent me a letter through the post too …
They are all miserable and incentivize embellishment for the sake of affirmations from people we don’t actually know that well. If we did have real relationships with these people we would probably be communicating offline and any accomplishments would be shared on a more personal level. Instead we just mass blast posts into the universe in an attempt to get fake internet points…
Twitter.Character limits is stupid
Myspace
Hot take but all of the Lemmy/kbin apps. Instead of focusing dev time and resources on one or two open source apps we instead have a dozen half-baked pre-alpha apps. Lately it seems like I can’t go a day without seeing a post for a new Lemmy UI.
Voyager is all you’ll ever need^^
I’ve tried Voyager and Memmy… I also know there are like a dozen others. My point still stands, we have too many devs spread out trying to make their own app/UI instead of us coming together to make one or two really good ones
