Minecraft's devs exit its 7 million-strong subreddit after Reddit's ham-fisted crackdown on protest

The Minecraft subreddit won't be a source for official Mojang communications going forward.

They can set up their own mojang lemmy instance and post there.

I hope to see Official Game Forums become ActivityPub based, it would be awesome for ‘subs’ & official forums to be one and the same, able to signup via Lemmy.

I hadn’t considered this, but it actually is the best for them too.

They get the community of discord with the style of Reddit.

Dammit. We need some techs devs to give it a shot.

Yeah, I think it’s a great idea for larger groups or corporations.

Nice that they can control it more, but I’d bet most companies don’t want to maintain their own instance

There was a time when every company had its own forum that they ended closing because they had to pay for moderators. Wizards of the coast and IMDB just on top of my head.

Rare occasion where I think mojang did the right thing

Their wording like appropriate and phrases like moderation changes makes it sound like some default subs being nsfw was probably a contributing factor in their decision.

I wonder if they could be persuaded to start posting on here…

Here’s to hoping microsoft decides to allow them to move on over to lemmy.

Damn, seems pretty huge. I haven’t been following patch notes on Minecraft even back when I played it, but good on them.

Whelp, here we are. Feels kind of nice.

From video gaming to card games and stuff in between, if it’s gaming you can probably discuss it here!

Please Note: Gaming memes are permitted to be posted on Meme Mondays, but will otherwise be removed in an effort to allow other discussions to take place.
