Man everywhere in the world is just about war these days. What a shitshow of a time to live.

Where did all smart people who can actually lead and de-escalate go ?

Is there something or someone I can follow for a while to distract myself from this shit and actually learn something ?

Here’s someone on Bluesky who does regular “three wins today” posts. But those are mixed with less positive news. https://bsky.app/profile/ariellaelm.bsky.social

Good News channel from YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANeE8s657UQ

The thumbnails are definitely attention grabbing but the content is genuine. It makes me a bit happier watching him

https://www.positive.news/ is what you are looking for.

And for distraction I use: https://youtube.com/@dailydoseofinternet

But in the end of the day it doesn’t really help, the only other thing that can help you is joining a group that fights for what you think it is important, that way at least you know you are doing something to help. Be the smart person who leads to de-escalation!

FWIW, it’s helped my feed to block posts with certain keywords.

Any physics documentary with Jim Al-Khalili https://youtu.be/3HWIPDKGog0

I have collected several YouTube channels that focus on educational content over the last several years. Many of which no longer get put in recommendations. My feed is almost entirely nonpolitical there.

I find all my bad news on Lemmy, unfortunate as it is.

Shahid Bolsen is a geopolitical analyst who keeps it comedic while chatting about the disastrous state of the world. His past seems… bizarre and iffy, but I don’t really care, just that his analysis is accurate and his proposed solutions take morality into account (“Middle Nation” on YT).
