Honestly not a bad idea, and with the increasing regulations to save the children this would show that the fediverse is making an effort. We may not be highly scrutinized at our current levels, but I don’t doubt that eventually we will be

But but why are the studios who are focusing on making quality games doing okay?! - asks the profit focused studios

God I’m getting sick of the repetitive posts saying the same thing. I’m a human being. I run an instance. I am personally liable for whatever crap my users post. Damn right I’m not going to allow Tor or vpns, and my instance will absolutely take down something if it could land me in trouble. I’m not going to have the feds bust down my door because someone wants to make a bonkers statement.

That’s the joy of federation. Anyone can go and spin up their own instance. There are cloud providers that have a single click option to set one up for you. Go forth OP, be the privacy focused VPN tor instance. You take the personal responsibility on yourself and then come back here and post about it.

I remember reading something from a sound editor for movies and TV. Essentially no director wants to halt production and re-do a scene because the audio is bad. It’s pretty hard to redo a scene if the camera didn’t get a good shot, it’s even harder if the camera was good but the audio was off. Most directors will just say “Just fix it in post”.

But, there aren’t really enhancements for audio. A bad segment of audio is always bad. You can’t just amplify the hell out of it and have it sound good. So the lower the budget the movie, the more costly it is to redo a shot, and the more likely they’ll tell the sound guys that they’ll have to deal with it.

Math class taught me to be precise I should always say “1 and 32 hundredths Megabytes”

Yup, can confirm. Go into it knowing what you would like it to be, and have a list of tlds you are okay with, plan to purchase once and only once. I like namecheap personally.

Ah okay, I think that makes sense. Thanks for your input! I’ll give it a whirl

That’s a great start! A lot of it depends on OpenAI, is there any guide you know of that lets me run completely locally? I use TabbyAPI for most of my inference, and happy to run anything else for training

I understand conceptually how these work, but I have a hard time of how to get started . I have the model, I know embeddings exist and what they are, and rags, and vector dbs, and then I have my SQL DB. I just don’t know what the steps are.

Do you have any guides you recommend?

If that is what you’re intending then it is not coming off that way.

Bro why are you being so argumentative? Person gave you a well thought out response, wasn’t even a tone to him but you fire back like he just insulted a core belief

I don’t mind sitting at a desk, but some care tips.

  • Stand up at least once an hour, even just to get coffee, go to the bathroom.
  • Always have a (full) bottle of water with you. If it’s there, you’ll drink it, you won’t even notice it. Keep it in your eyeline
  • Eyedrops. If you’re in an office job, you need eyedrops. If you game on top of that you need them more. I actually dried out my eyes from coding and gaming too much, it’s very easy to do. Talk to your eye doctor, get some artificial tears. Look away from the screen every 20 minutes or so and just blink.

Same thing with me and riding my bike on gravel roads. You can get pretty far on those if you have a few hours and nothing to do. Same rough distance, figured why not go see my friend…

It’s an interesting debate. One that I will not touch with ten foot pole because I do not have the knowledge to say which is right, but it’s interesting.

Is it better for people with these uh, interests, to have artificial content if it satisfies their needs? As in, for non consensual the vast majority of people would think it’s revolting, and that it should go. We want no part of it in society. But here’s the rub. What if the alternative is actually committing the crime? By offering an alternative that is morally questionable could it reduce the actual crime from happening?

Same thing with AI generated CSAM. utterly revolting. Think it should be purged. But, some psychologists argue that it would satisfy the desires of some of them, and it could reduce actual children from being harmed. Some say it could make the urge worse but some say it could prevent the real thing from happening

I don’t have the training or knowledge to say this or that, but it’s interesting

Good, then good use case. I see too many people trying to browse all and block everything, and that’s not a very fun Lemmy experience

Yup, had a bunch of future tech examples of it like doctors performing surgeries from around the world and building virtual designer shops, but couldn’t figure out a modern day use for it. So flopped.

What subscription finally gave you "subscription fatigue"?
Learned the term recently and really enjoy it, subscription fatigue is the feeling we all have had now where we are just over how everything is subscription based. Which one was the last straw or most annoying/frustrating to you?
