Battlefield 3 was my flight teacher. I could whip any chopper around after playing that game.

Mass Effect made me far better at multitasking and not letting myself get tunnel vision on an objective.

Sure I’d played Gears of War, or RTS’s that used the traditional rock, paper, scissors method of unit dominance, and resource management.

I’d just never played a third person shooter that expected me to combine all of those skills into a single gameplay loop which required constant shifting from power/defense based problem solving to accurate shot placement and squad positioning on the fly.

Not to mention the bastardization of the entire plot.

I liked the book because it felt like the villains had actual capabilities to accomplish their goals. The protagonists did everything right and it still wasnt enough to get the bad guys off their backs.

In the movie the protagonists make stupid decisions and the villain helper character which didn’t even exist in the book just overhears them talking about it.

Fucking. Stupid.

What’s your strat? I like fixing up older business laptops as linux machines. Do you just look on local listings after a big OS deprecation or is there more strategy to it?

Not sure about the chemical properties but I was always told they were red because that was the first color paint to be mass produced cheap enough for farmers to be able to coat their barns in.

So a teenager that isn’t old enough to vote but is mentally intelligent enough to operate by themselves in society (so like 15 or so) should have more rights than they do?

If we’re going purely based on intelligence then your argument doesn’t hold water, as intelligent people who are too young to be full citizens capable of voting, military service, owning property, etc. Are still dependent on their guardians.

How would this be any different? Intelligent handicapped people exist and don’t get every opportunity that others do.

I think the point is that for them to have rights requires that they be autonomous in society.

You don’t complain that “kids don’t have rights!” Because of course they don’t. They’re children. Incapable of voting/driving/owning property.

If they are intelligent but still physically incapable of these things then they would just be considered to have the same rights as children do. They’re citizens but not independent.

Survivor guilt is a good one, that whole album gets me.

“Make it stop” is another that just punches me in the gut.

Yeah there’s no room for any kind of nuance, you can’t ever agree with one thing and disagree on another. You’re either with or against, even if you agree on 99% you’ll still be ousted as the “out group.”

Or just disagree not because of some moral issue but because you’re aware of an side effect that would arise if their solution was implemented, etc. And calling them out on it as not being the best path forward immediately classes you as part of the problem.

Hyper tribalism, that’s a good phrase for it.

128GB OS drive with a couple small games on it.

1TB M.2 SSD for most games, especially anything multiplayer.

2TB HDD for older single player games that aren’t taxed by load times and bulk storage for videos/photos.

They were like six years apart, Naboo just puts people in power as preteens.

having your sex life criminalized, constantly being told you’ll get groomed and preyed on because you’re an idiot

Damn dude, just admit you want to fuck kids already.

We’ve not changed the way we see adolescent development for far longer than mental health and suicide have been rising, meaning your ideas of what’s contributing aren’t even remotely the cause. You wanna know why teenagers are killing themselves in record numbers? Here’s a few quick reasons…

  1. Social media. Influencers have created an entire fake reality that is so impossible for the average person to achieve that they feel disconnected and worthless. The fact that these people make boatloads of money while producing and providing zero value to the economy is also disheartening.

  2. Climate change. It’s clear that it’s happening, and clear that governments and their corporate overlords are willing to destroy the fucking planet while we can’t do anything about it.

  3. Cost of housing. Want to retire? Ever? Hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha. Hope your family is wealthy or has a place to pass down to you.

  4. Cost of education. In the last 50 years the cost of a bachelor’s degree has risen 500% above inflation. Somehow this has also happened during a decreased value of education as well (so literally breaking the economics of supply and demand) because every fucking entry level paperclip counting job needs you to have a 60k degree to “prove you have the discipline to get things done.”

But yeah, I’m sure it’s the fact that 13 year olds aren’t considered legal adults (something that’s never been a thing in our society) that’s somehow causing the increased suicide in the last two decades. Cause that makes any fucking sense at all.

Whenever people like you go this “its just biology/science!” route they always conveniently forget that the animals you’re comparing us to aren’t sapient and don’t require the time for mental development that humans do. a sixth month old dog might be physically and mentally an adult but human psychological development doesn’t end until about 23-25, our level of intelligence requires a longer incubation time.

You pretend biology is on your side by ignoring psychology entirely.

Name of protagonist is literally a Navy rank

“mAriNe”

Same, I started using ReVanced because of it.

Navy SEAL tries to convince the government that mechacuttlefish aren’t a conspiracy theory.
