Thelemite here—first off, I want to see an active community, which means allowing for a wide variety of posts.
That said, I would prefer it if we stayed away from spooky drawings or witchy selfies so that the content can remain focused on actual occult practices.
I think a blend of videos, books, personal experiences, and magickal experiments would be a good mix of content for a Lemmy occult community. It would be cool if it was as helpful and educational as the linux communities are.
Adults paid minimum wage without other sources of income are poor. What you’re implying is a system that pays children a living wage that is above the current minimum wage. What employer is going to pay someone more than minimum when they are a child who will have major limitations and liabilities as an employee, and when they could potentially pay a full grown adult to do more work with less liability for less pay?
The only reality where that happens is when it is a job that a child can do more easily than a full sized adult, and that is exactly the kind of work that made child labor illegal in the first place—those little hands can sure reach deep into those factory machines, can’t they?
Those are rooky numbers. /s
45TB used out of 77TB total on my NAS.
Granted, I only need to back up about 5 TB of that, so that does make my life easier. At this point, I’ll have to start building custom drive chassis if I want to keep expanding. There is always more to save…
Edit: LOL, saw your other post below where you say your full storage capabilities are in the 170TB+ range. I respect the power of your thuum!
The profound nothingness is almost hard to believe. I’m not talking an empty sleep—I mean it feels like someone cut a segment out of the film strip of your life.
The first time I was fully knocked out like that was for tooth surgery, and I thought the doctor was messing with me when he said they were done already—from my perspective I had barely closed my eyes for a moment. Sure enough, there was gauze in my mouth and the sun was setting outside. It had been over 90 minutes, and I didn’t even feel like I’d slept.
I think it is important to keep an eye on your sphere of influence and not take on emotional burdens for things that are far outside of that. Most people are not in a position to make a major impact on the world stage, and that’s ok, but those same people can have a huge impact in their community and with their families.
If you start by refining yourself into a person who stands on a foundation of values, you will be better prepared if you have the opportunity to make serious change. If you don’t get that chance, you will still have intentionally continued to grow into a wiser person than you started as. It’s a win win.
If you do find yourself in the position to do the right thing and influence change at scale, then it is up to you to call on those values and do so. I often think about how there have been so many people who could have changed the course of many global issues, and they bailed on the responsibility.
So I guess my stance boils down to: refine yourself, don’t blame yourself for the things you can’t change, and change the things you can for the better using your best available judgment. That’s all that most people can be asked to do.
