I’d be curious to see that if you have the link. The mod devs state in their FAQ that they’re not using any leaked code, but of course it’s possible that they’re lying.

That really sucks. I guess I can see why Valve is not so permissive when it comes to one of their major cash cows. But it seems like they handled this really poorly by initially signalling permission for the project and then deciding otherwise at the last minute and after years of work.

Could you give us an example of such a location please?

Russia, which is blocked from other international payment systems. Or any other authoritarian country where you might not necessarily want the government to know where you donate your money to.

Whataboutism fallacy.

We’re still throwing around fallacies like it’s 2010? Okay, I cast fallacy fallacy!

When talking about whether a dopnation button should have a specific payment option, it’s relevant if the alternatives it offers are better or worse. Otherwise, the argument might as well be to not have a donation option at all.

Depending on where users are located, it might be the only realistic option they have if they want to donate. Besides, traditional payment systems like PayPal, MasterCard, Visa etc are all problematic in their own right.

I don’t really get the need for a term like this. People are attracted or not attracted to all kinds of aspects of other people, so do we also need hyper-specific terms based on hair color, ethnicity, body size etc as well?

No, I’d rather just have a decent search function. Lemmy should be about human interaction, not getting answers from an LLM.

Making my gaming space more comfortable. I work at home on my desk, so I’m also often tired of sitting there when I’m done with work. A few months ago, I purchased a projector, which I can use while comfortably sitting in an armchair. Playing games on a 100 inch projector screen just makes them look way more impressive as well, even though my normal screen is technically better in every way. I also play on my couch using my Steam Deck.

Basically our entire daily life would have been absolutely unthinkable for 99.9% of human history. Light and hot showers whenever we want them. Instant communication with the other side of the planet. Thinking machines with the entirety of Human knowledge in our pockets.

Yeah the democrats have been a disappointment. I’d kinda see that as a reason to protest all the harder though. Using more disruptive measures like general strikes as well. Make them listen. Protest movements have overthrown tyrannical regimes before. Gets harder the more they’ve consolidated their power though.

Foreign media would report on it though, wouldn’t it? There are many European reporters in the US. And there should be plenty of videos, pictures etc showing the scale. I haven’t seen anything comparable to pictures of the women’s march personally. I’ve seen pictures of protests but they seem, comparatively, quite small.

Was there anything on the scale of the 2017 women’s march? I’m sure your arguments are true to some extent, but I am surprised and concerned that I haven’t seen anything in similar scale to 2017’s protests, despite the situation being so much worse this time. Back then they managed to mobilize over 200,000 people despite being car-centric.

I can’t think of a current EV that is completely without a touchscreen or proprietary OS, but there is quite a big selection of cars with physical keys and controls. For example, if you look at Kia’s current EV lineup, features like voice control, digital keys etc are all available, but completely optional. There are physical buttons and levers for almost everything you need while driving, like volume, temperature, fan speed etc.

Just not polluting it further would do it. It’s a river, so almost everything will get washed away and within a couple decades it will be pretty clean.

It has been many years (probably like 7-8) since I last watched his content. They were fun, informative videos about various exotic animals, but over time, his videos shifted ever more towards clickbait and “getting stung by the most painful insect EVER” type videos, while the educational aspect barely played a role anymore. Just looked at his channel and it seems like this trend not only continued but has gotten worse since I last watched him.

All my devices (PC, Smartwatch, Steam Deck etc) are in (British) English, with the exception of my phone, which is in my native German.

The expectations will probably be different between cultures but personally, nothing. It’s a gift after all, giving them money for it would make it a business transaction. Of course, when there’s an opportunity, I’d give out some food or drinks to my friends as well.

I’ve learned French in school for 5 years, but I only speak it on a relatively basic level, despite living very close to France and crossing the border quite often. Not too big of a deal though, as many people in Alsace also speak a German/Alemannic dialect.

Roughly:

murder, rape, sexual assault, battery, arson, sexual harassment, racketeering, assault, treason, DUI, fraud, theft, infidelity, speeding, drug dealing

However, that order could change quite a bit based on the specific circumstances of the crime.
