Some people might argue it’s a different thing but for me individual YouTubers have replaced the role gaming magazines / websites took in the past. I follow a few who tend to enjoy the same games as I do. They usually do not release their videos right when the embargo is lifted but take a bit more time - which I enjoy.

That said, I could see how a fediverse focused gaming outlet might fill a niche. I don’t think anything like this exists yet and existing outlets barely have a presence here (or I didn’t notice, I haven’t exactly been looking for this).

People don’t care what’s better. Most people won’t try anything new if the existing stuff is not severely broken.

That’s what I’m doing too but it’s not necessarily ideal on desktop. There’s also https://alexandrite.app/ for a dedicated desktop experience

To find a good instance, you can just check this site: https://join-lemmy.org/instances - I’d suggest reading the description of an instance and then browsing the home feed of that instance to see if you like it.

For communities, you can just switch your feed to “all” and browse through posts and see what interests you, then follow that community it was posted in.

I think the more severe issue here is that an architecture change would make the new device incompatible with the Switch. So they should preferably stay with something arm-based that can ideally mimic the original SOC closely.

Yeah especially the super niche stuff that had surprisingly active subs.

Did they change it recently or was I mistaken?

My issue with signal is that their desktop app sucks. No message sync, it needs the phone as a relay and it’s made with Electron.

The German wiki article said that it’s often used to illustrate and make fun of the fact that conspiracy theorists can claim the most absurd crap.

The English wiki article mentioned that even Angela Merkel mentioned it in a speech once, so I really gotta track that down now.

Germany:

  • the town of Bielefeld does not exist. There’s a huge conspiracy to make people think it’s a real place

This one always surprises me. Who the fuck is not hashing passwords? What else is wrong with this site if such basic concepts are ignored?

I’m on feddit.de - I was on lemmy.ml before but unfortunately the default instance is getting hammered pretty hard both by real users and apparently also DDOS attacks now.

Feddit.de is hosted close to me and therefore very quick and also reliable. It’s one of the biggest lemmy instances but small enough to be well moderated.

Yeah exactly. It’s surprising how many people don’t check or care how long their device is being updated. Apple does a great job of supplying their devices with updates long-term.

I think you replied to the wrong comment? This is not about Horizon.

Breath of the Wild. Game just blew me away when I first played it. The Switch was an amazing new console and this open-world adventure with its intricately crafted world was amazing to explore on the go. I couldn’t put the Switch down and finished this game way too quickly.

It shows you a banner when an update is available and you can tap a button to install it. Not sure if there’s a more automated way.
