They had a whole stupid argument about… Cheese. It went from small arguing to actual conflict.

I have that Asus XG27ACS, bought it a couple of months this ago. I’ve been very happy with it.

How’s the IPS glow/ backlight bleed in dark scenes and games?

It didn’t cost a fortune either. I think its the cheapest monitor I’ve bought in 20 years but it’s as good as any I’ve had before.

I’m tempted to either get an W-OLED (ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG) or re-purchase the Asus XG27ACS in a different store with the hope it will work.

I have been using IPS displays for many years, and I had to look up what is IPS glow.

I was the same as you with my old (still current) monitor but then, I bought the DELL and it was well, very notable: DELL IPS Glow (IPS Bleed?). To the point it was not a black screen anymore. It never really bothered me until, I had the DELL for a short time.

Smear and ghosting are bad on VA in my experience. I had one around when Miles Morales first came out and it was so bad I thought my tv was broken, and Samsung agreed and sent a guy to replace the panel.

That’s what I have been reading here and there, that VA are good for visuals (movies, tv shows and such) but bad for gaming. Though it seems that some people have a decent experience with VA panels when gaming but I don’t want to risk it (yet). Unfortunate that the new panel did the same thing.

bought an OLED.

How has the OLED monitor been for you when gaming (and either general usage or office work)? Response time, text clarity, motion and actual black screen? Since like another person said that there’s not really one-fit and always have to have a compronis (IPS with glow and OLED with possible burn-in), I’m tempted to purchase* an OLED monitor for around €600 and then just save up money for when the burn-in happens. I have been trying to find a decent monitor for quite a few months, so I have become a bit impatient and just want a good monitor to game mostly (say 80% gaming and the 20% is either browsing, movies, tv shows and office work).

Yeah, so from them (Monitor Unboxed) and Rtings I had gotten to the point to purchase the DELL G2724D but unfortunately that ended in bad luck.

How’s gaming on the monitor? I kept reading about how VA isn’t good for gaming due to black smearing and motion blur issue.

Yeah, the IPS glow is a major issue. When I bought the 24G2 4 years ago, it was on a whim and probably had luck. Now it’s tough to find a good IPS monitor.

I’m in dire need of a new monitor but, it seems, it is harder to find a good one than I thought.
I currently have the 24G2 which is 24 inch and 1080P. It was great but it unfortunately kind of died. White lines, lagging with tougher games and such. So I was researching for a good gaming (and productivity) monitor and found the DELL G2724D. The DELL looked gorgeous compared to the old 24G2. Unfortunately though, insane amount of glow – to the point I just returned it and asked money back. Now I’m kind of uncertain which monitor to get, I read reviews and all reviews on IPS panels have a lot of complains about the glow. I then researched about OLED, Q-OLED and kind of fell in love. Was ready to purchase one until, I was not. I found out it’s not a good match for productivity usage due to burn-in issue (Excel and Word). So kind of stuck now. I was thinking about the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS or LG UltraGear 27GR83. But I have bad experience with the ASUS before (bought it and would not turn on, might be just bad luck?) and I read different opinions on the UltraGear one. I’m still on the fence for an OLED/Q-OLED but don’t want to purchase another monitor after 1-2 years of gaming and office work. Got told about Mini-LED but they seem not really available in my country. Any recommendation, tips and such would be really appreciated! Note: There are many communities about gaming, so was not sure in whcih to post. This one seemed to fit the most since the others were mostly posts with news articles regard gaming and technology.

You can change your context with a new console, but I think it may be cheaper to do something like buying a controller and playing games while standing up, or on your couch/armchair

I will try this! Will try the standing. Though, eventually I’ll sit due just tired of standing up. The gaming PC is in my bedroom so there’s not really much room for couch and such.

I have a controller that, I often use but same issue happens of being exhausted of the feeling ‘being behind a desk and screen’.

You can also achieve this by identifying the things that you have to do in your job that mirror videogame genres you enjoy and picking a game that shares few of those qualities.

The thing is, I don’t think anything mirrors my work. I currently have a very basic accounting job and it’s not even that demanding. My work week exists of a mix with doing accounting, listen to podcasts, watching videos on phone and such.

It’s one of the most relax work I have ever had to be honest. Yet it’s the first job where this feeling of exhaustion started.

I also find stress relief games. Mindless 3rd person action games for me. Mad Max was great because I could drive around picking fights or crashing stuff. The Batman Arkham games and the Shadow of Mordor games are other great examples for me.

Yeah, so for me it would be most Switch games through emulation (such as Captain Toad, 3D World and Odyssey) and P3R/P5R.

I have not found any relaxing “cozy” games that work for me. Nothing has really grabbed my attention enough to stick with.

I checked ‘cozy’ games but like you, they don’t seem to be my type of games.

I’m truly debating about the Deck but €670 is a lot to invest when being uncertain. Also what if it wouldn’t fix the exhaustion issue of screens and desks.

How long have you been working a day job? It might just be a period of adjustment.

For about 2 months and a few days now. So I think, I already adjusted to the changes.

School life vs work life is a lot different, so it takes time to adjust for most people.

Definitely! It was tough the first few weeks, lol.

Also, if you work from home, that may also be a factor. If so, try not working where you game if possible. That was a huge thing for me.

At the moment I don’t yet, I purposely asked if I could work full time at office. I still live with parents and the distractions are a bit much. Might try working from home sooner or later though.

Adult gamers of Lemmy how do you find time to game without being exhausted of the screen?
I recently got a job after finishing university, all is good. However, after 5 full days of being behind desk job, I feel a bit exhausted of being behind desk. Thus my desire to game on PC has soured immensely. Despite having a huge backlog and actually want to finish games. I’m debating to purchase a Steam Deck OLED in the hope, I can actually play some decent games on there without getting fatigue of desk/ screens but that’s a big investment (€670-700). So I was wondering; how do the adults of Lemmy with 5 full days of work still get the time and desire to play their games?

I’m wondering how Tumblr is a safe space while it’s still filled with porn-bots. I tried the platform several times and no matter what I do, I always get smacked with some random NSFW content.

When Lemmy first got popular and all debates happened and such, I kept debating politely while they kept bashing, insulting and all that. I’m over that.

When I see such opinions now, I block them. They are seriously not worth my time, energy and effort. Let them wallow in their misery.

They won’t realize it but everything bad they hope happening to others will certainly bite them back sooner or later. The moment they do not fit their (own) ideology of fascism just a tiny bit, it’ll bite them back.

An Dutch book named “Ijskoude Handen”.

I have never heard anyone chat about, here on Lemmy nor on Reddit.

I actually want to apologize to someone, for not being honest when we were 17-19 (we’re both now 27-28).

I always lied whenever she asked me to just hang out. Said I could not or had something else.

Truth is, I never dared because of my dad. I didn’t want him to know that, I was hanging out with a girl. A lot happened in my youth and didn’t want to have another violence experience at home.

That and the fact I just feel awkward around people or on 1 on 1 meetings.

But I feel like it’s been way to long for that apology.

Everything kind of. Netflix, Dinsey, YouTube, Prime, HBO, Spotify, Apple Music and so much more. I rather sail the seas.

I think majority here is left-sided. I personally am right/ conservative (European wise).

However unfortunately, most of the right-side communities are filled with hate and thus, I avoid it.

Reddit May have won?

I’m willing to debate that. I still think majority of the people who provide actual information, memes and helps are gone to other platforms (such as Lemmy).

Most of Reddit’s stuff are quite much just reposts of old stuff. Only ones that have newer content are the niche* subreddits or the very specific subreddits to one thing.

Worth to replay Ghost Of Tsushima? (PS5)
I played GoT on release and right after Sekiro, thinking it would be A similar game. It certainly wasn’t and thus didn’t really enjoy it, although the gameplay was alright. Also played on a pod TV which wasn’t able to do 4K. Now I’m curious if it is worth it to replay the game on PS5 with a 4K TV. I remember the story was about honor, dignity, revenge and not to be ‘enslaved’ by it. However the gameplay was similar to Assassin Creed kind and a bit lackluster. Would you recommend the game again or rather try another game?

Let these people be miserable on Reddit. I’m worried if they come here, it’ll become more toxic.

I don’t think it is weird, I find it interesting.

So, yeah, you could see it like that. We do pray to Allah and ask for forgiveness, however – it has to be sincere. I hear a lot of people say ‘’do crimes, pray and it is forgiving haha’’ but that’s not case.

The repentance has to be genuine from the heart. The difference is we pray to Allah, the One we believe created us and we do not tell anyone else ours sins. Why tell another human your sins when you can connect to the One who created you and (genuinely) ask for forgiveness?

I cannot really go into the conversation regards Science and Religion, I’m not the right person for that. Though, we do not believe that the Quran was written by people. More so, revealed by Allah to the Prophets (PBUH).

I could go on because, I genuinely love my religion by heart and even I’m still learning a lot about Islam.

The hate part though, I fully agree with you. Wish we could all just live our lives without bashing one another. My own family is quite split Islamic, Atheism, Catholic and Reformed Church (I’m not sure what the name is of the last one in English).

Currently busy with something, so can’t make a decent comment back. I will edit the comment when, I can.
