My older neighbor got a call from a guy who called her “mom” and said he’d been in a car accident, and there was a problem with his insurance, so he was in real trouble if he couldn’t pay cash for the damage, the other guy was gonna call the cops, and he needed $2,000 to give to the other guy for the damage.
She said “Tim?” and the guy said "yeah mom its Tim and kept repeating he was gonna go to jail for not having insurance cause it lapsed just this week and he needed to run to the store and he was in an accident.
She withdrew 2k from the bank and some guy came and said he was Tim’s friend and he needed to go right then the cops were gonna arrest Tim.
Apparently, he snatched the money out of her hand and ran to his car and left. She felt very foolish.
I don’t know man, but I’ll tell you this- I went to the UK to see a punk show and it got cancelled, so I went on the band’s IG to see if there was a post as to why. There was, and as I tried to read some of the comments from users on the post my mind actually melted from how fucked up the spelling was. Not abbreviations, but just a shocking inability to spell very basic words. It’s concerning
“Yes, your clothing shields you from the sun, but not all fabrics and colors provide equal protection.” and all of the caveats around what works and what doesn’t isn’t exactly clearly regular clothing is perfect, but if thats what you took away from that, thats fine of course. I’ve gotten burned through t-shirts, but not often cause I normall would have worn black concert shirts from metal bands haha
100%. I was so addicted to reddit I would, like you said, open it without even noticing I did it. It was really shocking to me how many hours a day I was pissing away reading the reposts of bots and the thoughts of teen edge lords. The protests came at a great time, havent been back since (my sub is still on private hehe…) anyway, popping in here is fun and everything but I dont think it’ll ever get as bad as it was.
…that ought to be completely illegal
