Lots of chronic illnesses are worsened by heat. These are going to increasingly suck as the world gets hotter.

Good luck getting that to pay out for anxiety. Those insurance companies fight you tooth and nail.

I started adulthood in poverty because I was hit by a negligent driver when I was in college. It takes 7 years for negative reports to fall off of your credit report here, so I spent the first 7 years of my independent adult life in poverty because somebody else was a bad driver and our healthcare is too expensive.

Edit: For those who aren’t familiar with the American system of credit, if you have bad credit, most apartments will not accept you regardless of your income and many jobs will turn you down. It also makes it more expensive to do things like rent or lease anything (or buy a car, which is required in the US) because you will have a higher interest rate. It’s a cycle designed to keep you spiraling downward.

You have to already be wealthy in order to litigate, and the workers aren’t wealthy. So the laws go unenforced. Most theft in the US occurs in the form of wage theft perpetrated by employers.

When Sony Plus became required for online play on the PS4. Xbox already had similar going on at that point. The last console I have ever bought was a PS3 as a direct result of this.

I dream a lot.

The only dreams I think I’ve ever been happy in are ones where a lifetime passes, or years pass, with me living a full life happily in the dream. But then you wake up, and there is a heartbreak.

My opinion: mostly obnoxious and good he was left out of the movie.

Horror and horror literature. Seattle (not SeattleWA–that had become a cesspool of far right people who don’t even live in Seattle).

Edit: On A related note, anybody interested should subscribe to m/horrorliterature and help get us going!

Started out on lemmy.world because it was what I had heard of. Quickly switched to kbin.social for the better UI.

I have learned that the downside of moderating a political community (magazine in my case since I’m on kbin) is that I can’t/shouldn’t block bad actors because I need to be able to see their content if I’m to moderate effectively.

Dylan Moran’s stand-up is even better and a bunch is available on YouTube.

They also take longer to take effect and are harder to control the effect of as a result.

I think people deserve to give informed consent, but the nocebo effect is very real. Some people will read about side effects and then experience them simply because they’re convinced that they will. It’s the reverse of the placebo effect.

I guess I’m a minority because I mostly stopped using Facebook after they got rid of chronological feeds because that’s all I wanted.

Some places have fire bans due to dry conditions and high likelihood of forest fires. Those don’t include little stoves, though…
