The concept of “throwing the baby out with the bathwater”
There’s no nuance from the left. The left polices itself like the radical right thinks they (the party of law and order) do.
Had a podcaster get dropped by their long time partner because there were lewd text messages sent.
I’m tired of the reactionary bullshit, currently Dawkins and Gaiman are being dropped, and I understand not wanting to associate/support Dawkins’ current views, the guy wrote very persuasive works that shouldn’t lose value because he lost his empathy.
I still read and enjoy enders game despite knowing what a tool Card turned into, how is it so difficult to separate art from the artist?
Doesn’t hurt to talk to someone about it, maybe you’ve aged out of it, maybe it’s slowly manifesting itself in a different way, there are professionals that can tell the difference.
Nobody is going to hold a young adult accountable for minor things they did as a child, especially not a psychiatrist. It’s better to get checked when you have the awareness that something night not have been right, because when things are very wrong you won’t have the desire to get checked.
In theory it keeps your business card elevated / near the top, and has more volume to be grabbed from.
I’ve only done it the one time (genuinely), maybe they were giving cookware to everyone from that morning as a show of appreciation or to make them feel special, maybe it was just luck of the draw and I’m batting 1000 in business card raffles, maybe I’m only remembering my successes (I don’t think I am), or maybe it actually worked? The mystery of 100% success makes for the better story, so I deliberately stopped the practice.
(Also I have a way to always walk out of a casino with more money than you walked in with, not significant life changing amounts of money, but enough for dinner and drinks, but I like to tell people (genuinely) I’ve never walked out of a casino with less than I walked in with, the trick is to go to the concierge desk, tell them it’s your first time there, give them your name and address as verification it’s your first time there, they’ll give you house money, ever time you hit take the money out (it takes from your winnings before taking from the house money), at the end of the night compare how much you walked away with from how much house money they gave you, and that’s how much you’d have been down of your own money, my best is about 90% of the house money I put in as cash in my pocket, me and 3 friends did this and walked out with 150$ from nothing but a little time invested, the “real” gamblers hated being behind us as we checked out dozens of winning slips each)
My wife and I did part of our gift registry at ‘crate and barrel’, they had a business card pot to have a drawing from for some cookware, I had just gotten my first business cards, and remembered a tip I’d read about bending/creasing the business card in half before dropping it in. I tried it and we won a 4 quart ‘le cruset’ sauce pot. It’s the most expensive piece of cookware we have, and it’s amazing. I haven’t used that trick since then, partially out of guilt, partially out of being 1 for 1 on business card draws.
I’ve given up reading every word these days. I don’t have the time or capacity.
After skimming I’ll either go back and read something thoroughly, or move on to the next thing. 99% of it will be forgotten within the hour anyways.
However I won’t comment (and I try not to pass on) on anything I haven’t read thoroughly.
If I’m going to read every word (like a critical acclaimed book or article) I’m going to listen to it on my commute/wind down time.
It’s too damn divisive!
I bring Costco pizza to my d&d party every Wednesday.
It used to be Papa Murphy’s but somehow those dumbasses made the price of take and bake pizza prohibitively expensive.
Local pizza is the bomb, Chicago deep dish is the best, but the best Chicago deep dish is on the West Coast in a building that used to be a brothel.
New York Pizza is awesome, but it’s harder to replicate than Chicago’s cheese and meat casserole.
Pineapple is the most balancing ingredient and I’ll fight you (with words) over it, but one of the least good for leftover/reheating.
I have a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard setup on my deck to run fps and 4x games, hell most of the games, and satisfactory ran great on the deck(my only reference point is a 5 year old laptop that continues to chug along, satisfactory ran as well, if not better, on the deck than it does on the laptop)
Look back in ten years and do the figures yourself.
It’s not bad unless you want it to be bad. In ten years it’ll be nothing.
