Is it possible to view removed posts in the modlog, I mean the content of it?

There was a really stupid question lately, which got removed, but nevertheless I would like to see the response to it before it got removed.

Yep. You can restore comments and posts in modlog.

How, if I click on the removed post in the modlog, I get this error message:

Generally you can’t. You can see the truncated comments in the modlog itself, but not the posts. You can try to find an instance that doesn’t yet deleted your post (it takes some time to propogate to all instances), but it’s a witch hunt.

No idea, I can do that in the communities I moderate: (edit: you cant do that directly in the modlog. Apologies. you have to access the deleted post and restore it like this:)

That looks like the error that shows up when the community hasn’t synced with the instance yet, usually when you’re the first to subscribe to it. My guess is that the removed post wasn’t synced to your instance before it was removed, so your instance doesn’t have a local copy to show you. You could probably get around this by navigating directly to this community and then checking the home instance’s mod log.

Here’s a direct link to test it out: https://lemmy.ml/modlog/8

Note: I’m guessing as I don’t have access to server logs to confirm.

That is a genetric error that post doesn’t exist.

They specified the error when it comes to federation to something like this:

A loosely moderated place to ask open-ended questions

Search asklemmy 🔍

If your post meets the following criteria, it’s welcome here!

  1. Open-ended question
  2. Not offensive: at this point, we do not have the bandwidth to moderate overtly political discussions. Assume best intent and be excellent to each other.
  3. Not regarding using or support for Lemmy: context, see the list of support communities and tools for finding communities below
  4. Not ad nauseam inducing: please make sure it is a question that would be new to most members
  5. An actual topic of discussion
