The really small ones with friends or local organizations
I can’t keep up with the big ones, I end up muting them all
How can anyone can keep up with the big ones? I’ve tried it a few times, but it’s really hard to get a conversation going…
It feels like yelling into a waterfall. I also don’t like when a server has too many bots and features enabled. The simpler it is, the better.
Maybe I get overwhelmed easily, but I just don’t feel like participating if there’s constant spam going by
That describes it perfectly!
Yup, after reddit I tried it again and join a lot of servers… but as you said, it was just a bit too overwhelming.
My tiny private ones, the big ones are just too chaotic to keep up with
I usually see the same trend, and that’s why I’ve been replacing Discord with Matrix.
If a room needs heavy moderation tools, it’s going to be too chaotic to me, and sticking to small rooms means they can be managed in Matrix
You can ask your homeserver admin to add a moderation bot https://github.com/matrix-org/mjolnir that makes moderation a lot easier or if you host your own homeserver you can set it up yourself.
I am aware, the updated fork is this one: https://github.com/Gnuxie/Draupnir
I’m waiting for v2.0.0 to move to the fork.
As a big music and lastfm fan. Lastfm server
What’s your favorite Subreddit?
/s (why are you asking about proprietary corporate platforms on an open source platform?)
Because this isn’t a FOSS discussion community.
I get that FOSS is important but this way you won’t convince anyone.
I only use FOSS software, protect my privacy as much as I can, both are extremely important, but people like you make it hard to convince anyone to even consider thinking about these subjects.
You’ll never convince anyone to try it out with that attitude. I also recommend you don’t make assumptions about people, such as someone not using FOSS at all when they ask for your favorite Discord server. I know I used Discord as the last proprietary piece of software for a long time.
