This is asked multiple times a day. Instance blocking is coming in a future release but as of right now it’s only possible in select apps. User and community blocking can be done anywhere.
It’s my turn to ask the question tomorrow morning, I call it.
Maybe they should make it a priority 🤷♂️
From what I’ve seen it’s fleshed out and will probably be a part of the next update.
Oh cool are we doin this now
Is it Hexbear?
It might be hexbear
Is there some drama with hexbear? I’m out of the loop
Hexbear is the third oldest Lemmy instance and the largest by user activity, but wasn’t federated until recently. A bunch of people joined Lemmy without realising it was built by socialists and communists, and are mad that they have to be in the same space as them even though they were here first and built/are still building the place.
This is probably not much help, but instance blocking is a feature on Sync For Lemmy app. Helped me filter out a whole bunch of feddit.xx instances in languages I don’t speak.
The Android clients Sync For Lemmy, Connect, and Summit all seem to allow filtering by instance. Summit even appears to allow regex filtering.
Hope it helps!
Connect for Lemmy and Sync for Lemmy support it. If anyone knows any other apps that do please let me know.
I have sync, is there a way to block all comments from an instance too?
I’m not sure. I haven’t tried the filter feature. Maybe ask at !syncforlemmy@lemmy.world ?
As far as I know it cannot be done on the instance level yet. I’ve heard they are working on it. However, some clients will allow it, unfortunately I don’t have a list of which ones sorry.
Sync is the only app I know if that does that right now but I could be wrong.
Edit: and now I know Connect can too, there you go OP
Connect can also block at the instance level
Filing that info for later, thanks!
This is more of a support question, related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for a list of communities that offer support. Removing under rule #3.
For note, this is an option on Kbin. You can go to /d/thedomain.com and block the whole domain
You can do it with certain apps. Sync I’m pretty sure does this but I’m sure others do too
Have you tried looking in your settings?
That’s for users and communities, not instances.
