A fringe case I’ve found ChatGPT very useful is to learn more about information that is plentiful but buried in dead threads in various old school web forums and thus very hard to Google. Like other people’s experiences from homebrewing. Then I ask it for sources and most often it is accurate to the claims of other homebrewers that also can be correct or less correct.
What? Soft? Do you think they would mock us for having industrialised society with food and medicines and public schools and well educated people and jobs that don’t break your body at the age of 35? Why would they do that? Would you look into the future and mock them for having a cure for cancer and HIV and Alzheimer’s and better health and foods and even more comfortable living and transport and jobs and entertainment?
Personally, I’m worried and empathetic towards the good people affected in USA. Leaning back and enjoying the show when republican voters get their faces eaten by leopards. Not too worried about how it will affect us economically as it just is another maelstrom of international turbulence going on. Everything is quite unstable and unpredictable right now so it’s just another chaotic parameter. Unfortunately the sum of it all is paving the road for fascism to rise here as well when people feel unsafe and want order and vote for the ones with the loudest and easiest solutions to everything that is complex and scary. I think my social circles are pretty much the same, give or take some details.
I don’t know Watts but The Egg is a nice story. It’s quite comforting with the idea that despite everything that goes wrong in the world, it’s all part of the learning process of the universe-organism. It’s not a God, it can not rule, it simply is and we and literally everything else are part of it. All we can do is to be and try to get by best we can and learn from our experiences to be better.
If I’d have to put faith in something, that would probably be my pick.
If I’ve got it, I’d lend my long time best friends up to €1000 without question. I would not really expect them to pay it back. I trust that if or when they can they will. If they can’t, they can’t. People that are not my besties? No.
