Whichever one you say, I say the other one.

And Lemmy is disproportionately representative of the 1/3 who are aware.

If you look at the comments on a random public social media post, you’ll find the delusional third or half.

It basically boils down to where they’re getting their information, or rather, whether it’s information or “information”. A large swath of the population is so propagandized by right wing rag “media” that they are functionally incapable of rational thought.

Well… I thought it was relevant and humorous, and the rules don’t say the submissions have to be news. I might be stretching the definition of “discussions” but, figured it was worth a try :-)

32m, American - No I can’t, as except for a short stint on a leased automatic gas car, I’ve owned only electric cars. And EVs are by definition automatic!

Now I get your point too. Alas, hard to phrase it for objective answers, as who would choose to do this without any incentive?

For travel I usually use as a rule of thumb, that you need to stay the same number of days as there were hours in the flight to get there. So for example a quick two hour hop lends itself nicely to a weekend getaway, whereas a transcontinental flight implies staying a week or two. This tends to be advantageous anyway, for jet lag purposes.

Answering the intent of the question: no I don’t think so as that would rule out 99% of stuff we all watch and play these days.

Answering the literal phrasing of the question: these types of “would you do X for Y dollars” questions are suspect because the impact of the amount of money is subjective and entirely dependent on your personal situation. Readers who are broke and readers who are millionaires will have entirely different thoughts due to their own financial situations, and so the answers are unlikely to be informative. As opposed to something more objective like, “do you think you could deal with only consuming free content for a year”.

Important to note, this doesn’t affect online multiplayer or availability on newer consoles, eg you’ll continue to be able to buy, download and play 360 titles on Xbox One / Xbox Series.

MS probably wants to make sure that Series S doesn’t end up missing out on games or getting subpar experiences, given they promised their customers that it’s the same as an X just at a lower resolution. You can see how they want to avoid outcomes like Series S being confined to lower player counts, smaller maps, or other game-restricting features.

But they’ve painted themselves into a corner in this case. Split screen requires rendering the whole game twice, which the S isn’t powerful enough to do. It’s also probably a feature few players will actually use.

Seems like this case should be an exception to the parity requirements.

Translation: We believe our players are dumb enough to shell out the money, so we’ll charge what we can. Get rekt.

macOS as much as I love Linux on the server, it’s just not cutting it as a desktop OS for my workflows

At my school, we quickly discovered that the admin password for all the networked printers was the name of the high school. All these HP laser jets had a function where you could upload custom translations for the status messages on the printer displays. So we downloaded the English string set (XML) and made some changes, “translating” for example, “Printer Ready” to read “Paper Jam”, “Replace Toner” and so on. As well as changing the admin password. The school actually RMA’d them back to HP thinking the paper jams were some sort of actual defect, as opposed to an altered status message, and eventually replaced them all with Brother printers. Oops lol

Haven’t heard of Pixelfed before; how’s the user base?

It works pretty well on Android. They have a lot of curated “categories” which are like a mix of Spotify’s curated playlists combined with Pandora radio, which is pretty cool. Also, lossless audio is included at no extra cost, which is great if you have a DAC and nice headphones on your Mac/PC

I, for one, can’t wait to read Apricot bar code architecture

(Be kind, not trying to start a flame war) I keep seeing this thrown around, what is a “tankie” and what’s it got to do with that Lemmy instance?
