I’m sooo relieved and happy about this, and surprised, most people told me I was completely screwed and I would have to redo the floor, now it looks good as new 😅

I fixed it really easily and well, without sanding, with the steaming method recommended here! Photos are in a comment further below:)

I didn’t need to get down to the wood, I poked tiny holes in the varnish and steamed them, worked like a charm. Photos are in another comment further up, thank you though!

I did it! It was really easy and quick! These are before and after photos: first after the steaming, then after some light polishing of the varnish.

I found a video where they put small holes in the varnish with a knife, then let it sit wet for a couple of hours, then steam it through a towel, and it worked pretty well on a test dent!

I tried letting some water sit for some hours in one dent, to see if the wood would expand - but nothing happened. I guess that would rule out steam, unless I remove the varnish in the dents first?
