EU court rules people can resell digital games
Finally some good news! I've been waiting for quite a while for such a ruling. Edit: Seems this cites an article from 2012, I didn't notice that (and it's still news to me). Though there's still hope that it'll happen, EU is slow, but usually eventually gets shit done.

I actually like their newsletters! But yeah, nice to know, next time I post about their giveaways, I’ll include the link.

If the universe is deterministic, it means that every particle has an infinitely predictable path. And our body and brain are full of particles which could only ever move in the predetermined way. And because our thoughts are only movements of neurone, which in turn, as everything, are made of particles, every action of ours would be predetermined and we could never decide otherwise than we did.

Did something change? Last time I checked we didn’t know whether in the grand scale the universe is or isn’t deterministic.

That we know that the universe isn’t (seemingly) deterministic locally doesn’t change anything about that.

We don’t know whether the universe is deterministic, though. That’s the only slimmer of hope for free will we can have.

Isn’t that exactly what sorting by active is for?

I never really got the distinction. Reddit was just a massive forums with a lot of subforums. So yeah, there’s the difference that it’s centralized, but that was a pro in my book.

Now Lemmy/Kbin etc. seem to do the best of both worlds - centralized and decentralized at the same time.

So IMO yes, these sites are the successors. Not Discord, though, that’s a non-indexable chat app.

That’s weird, because that’s the official way to tag someone. So even if it doesn’t turn into a link, the user should be notified.

As far as I know, no, there’s no autocomplete for that. But you don’t have to write the whole link, just writing the community name (like !asklemmy@lemmy.ml) or the user (like @TurboLag@lemmings.world) and it should turn them into links automatically.

Well, the laws for sure aren’t perfect, but people are responsible for the accidents they cause. Obviously there are plenty of exceptions, like rich people, but if we’re talking about the ideal real-life scenario, there are consequences for causing an accident. Whether those consequences are appropriate or not is for another discussion.

I don’t feel like this is what we were talking about - at least I was talking about cars that drive alone.

Pretty much the same. Few years ago we even changed the law to be in tune with Germany and our other neighbors - previously the corridor was on the right side, now it’s on the left. IIRC we were the only ones who had it on the right.

Yep, I’m pretty confident they won’t be autonomously driving on EU roads legally until they conform to pretty strict legislation which I’m pretty sure will include the liability of the company.

Nice of Mercedes to do the right thing without being forced to, that’s surprisingly rare.

Then what’s the discussion even about? I don’t want autonomous cars on the street because even their creators don’t trust them to make it.

There is - the company. Which they obviously don’t like. I think a huge chunk of people would be fine with them if the companies took responsibility.

Fine by me, as long as the companies making the cars take all responsibility for accidents. Which, you know, the human drivers do.

But the car companies want to sell you their shitty autonomous driving software and make you be responsible.

If they don’t trust it enough, why should I?

How do you deal with communities that don't interest you?
So, how do you deal with communities that don't interest you? I personally block them, because I don't like them popping up on my All feed, but at the same time I don't want to switch to Subscribed because a new interesting community might pop up. What's your strategy?

A while ago I printed these Portal coasters.

What's some really unpopular opinion you have?
Most of the time when people say they have an unpopular opinion, it turns out it's actually pretty popular. Do you have some that's **really** unpopular and most likely will get you downvoted?

When someone says "games", what's the first thing that comes to mind?
For me it's PC games, for my gf it's tabletop games, so I was interested, what do you folks imagine as the first thing when someone says "games"?
