My immediate thought of leftist/progressive gaming influencers was F1nn5ter. I’m not really into that circle of content creation though.

Not that I disagree with the spirit of what you’re saying, but bluesky is not even close to a ā€œmassiveā€ corporation. According to this they have a net worth of $7.23m, going as low as $600k in October last year. I know of plenty of local restaurants and other small businesses with a higher net worth than that.

You’re right that it’s not cloud-based, but it’s still ā€œalways onlineā€ software. It’s the same as a video game that doesn’t function without the internet. I don’t think you need to be such an ass about the distinction.

As a German who was taught all the dark times of our nation in school, I can confidently say that us causing the second War To End All Wars is almost as bad as this company’s behaviour.

Yikes friend… this reads like a different flavour of holocaust denial…

I wonder if one of their existing mainboards would fit in the form factor of something like a Legion Go (which is quite a bit larger than a Steam Deck)

This isn’t entirely true though. Devs could target an AppImage for example.

I dunno, I think it sounds good listening to Dolby Atmos with my AirPods.

I was confused by the ā€œSpatial 3D soundā€ one, because spatial audio is genuinely pretty awesome. But yeah, the whole head tracking thing is basically useless and I immediately disable it when I can.

Big Same. I’ve had it for three years now and it’s been really great to see a YouTube alternative actually flourish and survive. My subscription is almost due, and they have a lifetime option for $250 (normally $300, I think the discount is for my last years fee) that I’m sorely tempted by.

Edit: Just to note, so no one’s put off from subscribing, the current rate is $30/year. It was $50 last year. Which does mean the lifetime pass is 10 years at the current rate. But if they’re successful, that rate’s not going to stay static for all of that time. Not trying to be a shill for them, but if you like any of the creators on there it’s a good way of supporting them.

Mate, you forgot to mention the drop bears. Nasty little fuckers, fall out of a tree and maul your face.

Having possession of an original without the watermark would be pretty easy proof that it’s been altered after the fact.

Oh, they’ll totally sell the ability to generate without the watermark. Because of course, corporations have never been responsible for spreading disinformation.

Not anymore. Right from the first post the admins made about it, they tried to make it clear that they had come up with a plan to lower costs and should have realised before it was too late that AWS was gonna charge them through the nose once traffic increased. The migration’s complete now from what I understand, and it would take a huge influx of users to even come close to those figures now.

X aka Twitter has not been contacted for comment because it is known to only send a poop emoji in reply to media queries.

Why am I not surprised Musk would pull this kind of juvenile move?

It’s not really apt to compare email to Lemmy. Email is a one-to-one communication method, it’s like sending a letter in the mail. In the same way a mail carrier isn’t culpable if they deliver a package of drugs, Google isn’t responsible for delivering illegal emails. On Lemmy though, you’re hosting a copy of the post locally on your instance. It’s accessible to users as well as people who aren’t signed in.

There’s a lovely trans girl named FitGirl that might be able to help you out if you look her up 😊

While it isn’t ubiquitous here in Australia by any means, fax still occupies some weird areas of law that make it common. When my doctor sends a referral it is almost always via fax, because email isn’t legal. Apparently, owning a phone number is more proof than owning an email address?

What’s hilarious is that most medical providers use fax-over-VoIP (yes, that’s apparently the term) anyway ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
