Heck is where you go when you don’t believe in Gosh.

Why hate? I get early on but it’s pretty good these days imo.

I grew up in the US northeast. The general lack of knowing how to dress warm everywhere else is pretty surprising, so I guess that’s the skill I’d pick.

Any older Thinkpad that’s about 5-7 years old on eBay. You can get units that were high end when they came out (normal speed now) for $200-300 all day.

I know specifically the P50’s have a thunderbolt port and you can get them with an i7 for around $250.

Go anywhere north of PA and all you’ll see is Pizza/Sub/Calzone combo shops!

ITT: tech people and power users struggle to understand that the masses use devices and services differently than they do.

I acquired it recently and plan to do so… looks like it held up well after all these years other than maybe a little platforming jank, but that’s par for the time!

That’s definitely not what the article said about the bad guys. They said they’re trying to protect the look and feel because their business model relies on their brand staying consistent so they can keep business partnerships in place to pay the bills.

They also provide nearly as much code back to the community open-source as they do closed.

If 95% isn’t better than Chrome (which I switched from) idk what to tell ya. And Vivaldi is also the reason I know about the fediverse – they openly advertise it. So it got me off reddit too. I call that by FAR a net win.

I only played the demo but it was great! Now that I remember it I may try to get my hands on a copy… thanks for sparking a memory!

Pretty sure you can get a modern copy of TA. Either on steam or gog.

And if you like the general style but want to broaden your horizons a bit, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and Planetary Annihilation: Titans are both good options!

In no particular order, these are the games I played the most back then.

SNES

  • Super Bomberman II
  • Stunt Race FX
  • Super Mario Bros
  • Yoshi’s Island

PS1

  • Gran Turismo 2
  • Spyro 1 & 2
  • Crash Bandicoot series
  • Twisted Metal 2, 4
  • Jet Moto series
  • Coolborders series
  • Pro Skater series
  • Einhänder

PC

  • After Dark Games

And a couple of nearly-90s favorites,

PC

  • 4x4 Evo 2
  • Red Alert 2
  • OG Halo

Vivaldi is 95% open source, and I understand that may not be enough for some but I think that’s a lot better than most alternatives. It also works great.

Shout-out to Vivaldi for forking before mv3 happens. It is chromium based but they are very openly anti-google. It’s the OG Chrome devs as far as I understand.
