i really did not understand and this. this mag is for migrants and updates on the migration, a literal hub for migrants from reddit.

if a migrant has something to say about migration, about their own migration or what caused them to migrate, anything related to the reddit migration it belongs here. pushing them away like this and making them feel stupid for making a post when this is now supposed to be their safe haven away from reddit is NOT helping

unrelated but these ai generated article images are fucking creepy

this fucking sucks. i am very disappointed that the protests lost steam and everything is just back to normal, swept under the rug. they showed their hand, acted like fucking dictators, and everyone is just like “welp thats it!” and gives the fuck up. it’s just sad. it feels like 90% of the people who said they were in this were all just being performative.

so many of us dedicated a lot of time to the protests, left our communities, migrated, all for everyone to just go crawling back. i won’t go back. i am staying on kbin. but man, it fucking sucks to see reddit face 0 consequences because Spez was right, “this will blow over”

well, i am from kbin and the people i have migrated are also on kbin, there has never been any confusion, it’s made migration really easy. i have been told lemmy has intimidated and put off migrants by those migrants themselves. i think initially people should start on kbin, they will grow a natural understanding about federation and the fediverse, and from there they can choose if lemmy or others suits them more as a platform.

but, we have to actually get people here first.

this is my mindset. its gonna take some of us to kick things off. i do it in my mags where im the main one posting

there’s tons of niche mags around, but when i go to them, no one is participating. we have to help grow them if we want them to thrive. i try to post in them if I see they are empty. we cant expect them to magically appear and grow, we must be proactive

It does make sense. My friend talks about this alot. It also seems to me from my own experiences ad especially his that everything is made to maximise profit and user experience is the last priority. It’s structured that way in order to guarantee their control over your experience and therefore their profits. Nothing is spontaneous, the charm is gone for most modern games, and so it’s just not as fun as it was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i believe we can do it and do it great ❤︎

well said. it also just makes me feel better in general contributing to kbin, because i am contributing to its growth and real conversations, and better yet, helping create a home here for other reddit migrants

thats crazy. im very active on here as my profile can tell and other than a run in with an alt right person on one thread, i havent seen anything bad. of course, as it gets more popular, this will increase, but for now its pretty nice

agreed, its a simple way to help pay for hosting without ads and to show extra love for a post.

be careful, they are restoring deleted posts and comments. rewrite your comments to nonsense or a protest message with redact or power suite delete

Reddit removed moderators behind the latest protests before restoring a few of them - restored by a different admin than the one that removed them...
"Soon after we published this story, one of the r/MildlyInteresting moderators told The Verge that the entire mod team has now been reinstated — and by a different admin than the one that removed them. The mod’s account had received a 7-day suspension, but that has been reversed, too, they said. A Verge commenter who identifies as an r/MildlyInteresting mod also says the team has been reinstated and unsuspended. Asked if Reddit could confirm the reinstatement, [Reddit spokesperson Tim] Rathschmidt declined, saying, “I’m not going to set a precedent of confirming with The Verge every action we do or don’t take to ensure users can access their communities.” **He didn’t elaborate on how removing a subreddit’s entire moderation team with no communication ensures users can access their communities, particularly since they were never entirely inaccessible beyond the limitations imposed by Reddit itself."** [\#reddit](https://kbin.social/tag/reddit) [#protestreddit](https://kbin.social/tag/protestreddit) [#boycottreddit](https://kbin.social/tag/boycottreddit) [#spez](https://kbin.social/tag/spez)

The only thing we ever need to do on reddit is encourage migration to further drive down traffic: Dm mods of your fave subs and ask about migration, something as simple as “Hey, I love this community but I no longer use reddit, will you guys be making a community on Kbin or other alternatives? Let me know please, thanks.” will work!! We need more voices encouraging migration!

this is such a wholesome post, i love it. im enjoying my time here too, really glad to see the same for others!

MALICIOUS COMPLIANCE FOR MODS: How to Fuck. Reddit. Over.
Written by DrNeurohax "**Some Thoughts on Ways Mods Can Stay in Malicious Compliance, in Order To Prolong the Protest and Their Removal by Admins**. r/funny should be proud. They sat in the crosshairs for longer than anyone thought they would. I hope they, and all the other subs pressured into going restricted or public, continue to show their support in some unique way. Some ideas: * Include kbin/lemmy equivalent magazines in the banner and a sticky post. Sticky an autocomment on every post with fediverse info. * Only use the standard mod tools and halve your time commitment. "We went back to using the tools they gave us and this is how it will be from now on. Welcome to the new Reddit you guys chose by not supporting the blackout!" * Mark the sub NSFW. Realistically, there's rarely a reason anyone in an office should be on Reddit. This should also make the sub unavailable for mobile users when the API changes go into effect. * Make every day April Fool's Day. Like when r/DataIsBeautiful posted nothing but pics of Star Trek's Data. If you have no ideas, just google the sub name and see what you find! * * PIC is also: * * * a type of long catheter that is inserted through a peripheral vein, often in the arm, into a larger vein in the body, used when intravenous treatment is required over a long period. Seems like an important topic for r/Pics to cover. (Dictionary.com) * * * Slang abbreviation for Partner In Crime, so maybe change focus to famous crime duos (Urban Dictionary) * * * Slang for a movie, so become the movie subreddit (Encyclopedia Britannica) * * Just go nuts with [https://www.abbreviations.com/pic](https://www.abbreviations.com/pic) * Set unreasonable posting requirements without an announcement, but noting the change in the side bar. Gotta read the fine print." Set posts to require moderator approval. * Approve 1 post every hour or only approve really poor quality ones. Fracture the community. * Announce alternative subs for your topic, which you also control, and encourage unsubbing from the original sub. Do some of the above, while also setting the sub to require accounts be subscribed for a month to post. Those that leave will find nothing in the alt subs, which they can't post to, and be unable to post on the main sub for a month. Also, fracturing the large subs will reduce traffic overall, due to the chaos. Remove and replace scrub mods where possible. If you get booted down the line, another supporter can continue the pattern. Forward any post remotely related to a product advertised on Reddit to that company's media contact for approval. Advertisers should know what is being associated with their brands. (And if some really gnarly stuff gets submitted by some non-mod account, it might be more impactful." We must fight back.
