How was the ride? Smooth/bumpy/not feel much movement?

My experience on a much slower HSR is being thrown around in the seat at certain times, wouldn’t want to be carrying an open drink of any kind tbh lol

I didn’t even know Germany designed maglev train tech, usually when these trains are mentioned it’s related to Japan or China. Interesting

Since Intel has now discontinued their flagship arc card not even a year after release

Whaaaat? That’s disappointing ☹️ I was hoping finally there’d be some more competition

Oh my… I refuse to accept this as reality

We’re all organically powered metal meat machines? 😭

Osmand shows the images, but you have to set up some kind of wikipedia/wikimedia thing for it to work as intended

I have a steam link box in the bedroom and another in the lounge - controllers just to connect to the link, and the link handles sending the button presses to the computer running the game.

The steam link app on the Shield would work in a similar way. I would suggest to use ethernet if you can, or even a powerline ethernet plug, for a smooth streaming experience

My partner has anxiety and finds this really relaxing

Personally it’s not my cup of tea, give me a driving sim or strategy game and I’m sorted 🫠

What app are you using at the mo?

Curious since i’m only aware of two and haven’t heard about them in a while

Reddit killed my app 😭

Looking at Lemmy so far I see no reason to return to Reddit, especially with them monetising karma and whatever that crypto thing is they introduced

As a side note, Google Messages replaced the recently discontinued AOSP SMS messaging app

When I got my FP3, I needed a new USBC cable as I was upgrading from a Galaxy S5. To be honest, my (now broken) Galaxy S5 still has its original charger in the box, since I reused my S4 charger for it.

Nowadays though it should be pretty common for people jumping to an FP or other USBC device to at least have an existing USBC cable kicking around I think

Fairphone 3.

I do not see any suitable replacement anywhere on the market 😭

Here electric dirtbikes are a problem. They rip around with no lights in the dark, and you can’t hear them coming. Things like that make me understand why places like Paris have bike gates to restrict the handlebar width and tyre size of bikes that can pass through

The riders wear no helmets whatsoever, so I’m just currently waiting on that problem to sort itself out πŸ‘

Still infinitely better than hearing a two stroke from half a mile away though

Very true.

However I wouldn’t want to share a bike path with individuals riding carelessly at 40kmh/30mph. At least here where there is some semblance of β€˜bike culture’, unrestricteds do ride slowly on paths and walkable areas, and usually only let it rip in the road.

Teens might not necessarily abide by that, or understand the risks. They tend to prefer escooters here anyway, and those top out at a much slower 20kmh/15mph… could be worse I guess πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

The stock OS is pretty comparable to AOSP with the Google bits installed, a custom camera app and the Fairphone app (which can be disabled or removed IIRC).

It’s very barebones, the opposite of a (cluttered IMO) Samsung touchwiz or similar customised UI

They’ve previously been on their own when releasing newer versions of Android onto older Snapdragon CPUs that aren’t technically supported by it, which hasn’t helped things when the updates take a while to arrive as is.

At least now with the industrial CPU they’ll have support available from Qualcomm πŸ’ͺ and the various performance enhancements and security fixes associated with that

Honestly I think this kind of spammy activity should be defederation on sight if the instance owner doesn’t get their house in order, at least until we can manually approve the first few posts submitted by new users

Szmer, a polish instance that literally doesn’t speak our language, sorted out spam originating from their instance… what’s the deal here with melroy ☹️

The Fairphone 2, 3/3+ and 4 can also run PostmarketOS (Linux) and Ubuntu touch IIRC

Edit: add Fp2 to list

How long have you had your current water bottle?
I've been using a reusable 36oz/1L plastic "flip lid" bottle from Bezos's market - this is my third one (sadly replaced almost on a yearly basis) since I keep accidentally breaking the lids. It practically comes everywhere with me - walking, cycling, in my backpack. This lid is starting to crack at the hinge and the latch though, but don't really want to replace it with the same thing again. How long have you had you had your current bottle, and how are you finding it so far?
