peter Jackson was dragged in kicking and screaming years after preproduction started. it was destined to be a studio driven mess from the start

I’ll cop some shit for this one, but coffee baristas.

you put some grounds in a machine, twiddle some nobs and pour milk in a wave pattern

edit: judging by the amount of downvotes ive either pissed off all the Bachelor of Arts grads working as baristas or all the coffee snobs who still think making coffee is some sort of art that can only be done by the most highly trained baristas. Yes, I also love coffee. No, making it is not some sort of complicated thing which is the point of this post (and topic of this thread), and no, I am not disparaging anyone working as a barista (unless they are an Arts grad, sorry) because a job is a job and all jobs deserve respect

this is intriguing. I’m dying on the hill that Hans never started out evil, there’s literally no indication at all in the first half of the movie and some of his actions prove the opposite. Plus the motive always felt insufficient (why would he go for the younger Princess and not elsa if his intention was to take the throne)

I like to lead such people on in bad faith. watching them go from thinking they are the ones in control of the conversation to realising they are being played is actually quite fun. Bonus points for the rabid PMs they might start sending towards the end. Just knowing you can rile someone up so much when they expected to control the narrative is great

small channels especially for niche stuff you have people who actively sought out the material and are happy to offer thanks or constructive comments. large “mainstream” channels comment sections are a mixed bag of rants, irrelevant nonsense, sometimes a comment on the subject matter, abusing other commenters and people who can’t help wedge their politics and toxicity into any bloody conversation

I get that, but then there’s the energy that created it, who knows where it came from. even if we say the result of a previous crunch or 2 strings colliding, whatever, there was something before. its difficult to think abouy

airbnb, Chinese stuff as much as possible, newscorp, fairfax, a specific car mechanic who I caught out in an attempted repair extortion over 12 years ago now and I still badmouth them whenever the general topic arises

oh and one of my wife’s acquaintances (fortunately less so these days) who is a self centred idiot, literally publicly cucked her husband and doesn’t feel bad about it, just parks in the common driveway (literally the way in and out for the units behind ours) and makes excuses for her klepto kids all the time. by boycott I mean I refuse to acknowledge her presence if she’s around unless it’s to tell her to move her fucking car. again.

agree on scale, I’ve never managed to make a small batch of pizza dough taste right, but used to make restaurant batches 20 odd years ago no worries. I have no idea why it works that way

it would be mighty embarrassing for Russia if he were to show up alive somewhere now, so this time I’ll believe them. they had every reason to kill him as publicly as they apparently have

I used to be a pretty devout catholic but went through the whole crisis of faith. So these days, no.

I still wonder a lot about before the big bang, or wherever the actual “start” of everything was and what sparked it or made the energy exist in the first place, but I don’t want to just hand wave it and say God because we don’t have an explanation. But its definitly something I ponder

and we all have a white whale out there we wished we saved but can’t remember what it was called and can’t find it again, wishing we had saved it

I was going to comment Caprica, which most BSG fans havnt even seen. For what it was, I really liked it, it’s a shame it only got the first season

agree it’s not mainstream popular, but defnintly has a sizable following and frequently brought up. for good reason of course

I’m genuinely confused in this thread. do people really use climate control to keep their homes the same temperature year round? WTF? a but of AC on the hot days for us, and hardly ever turn heating on (don’t really need to here tbh)

but year round? unbelievably wasteful

physical jobs are good till you hit middle age and the body can’t keep up.

white colour jobs have a similar thing, younger people can thrive on the mental energy but the older i get the harder it is to mentally be “on the ball” the whole time . I think both white and blue collar jobs have different but comparable problems as you age. like sure I can pull a couple of full days if I need to, but burnout is real

this is a hobby I would absolutely love to get into but do not have the space (and renting a garage would probably not be realistic at this point for me). looks amazing dude I’m jealous of you! awesome hobby

mini painting and ADHD is a funny one. I can have months of ultra focus and paint a whole small army up, then I have tiny bursts and it takes months just to finish a few models. I currently have 8 guys I’ve been working on since June about 50% done and I’m no high level painter

raises hand.

wish I could find some cheap hobbies instead of getting obsessed with expensive ones all the time

while I have used telegram in the past, the association of it being used heavily by cookers and q idiots really just put a bad taste in my mouth

you should post this in the unpopular opinion community
