This. Mu father and grandfather in law are mathematitians. I never liked or enjoyed math but they make it ao damn interesting when talking about it. It’s a real shame I never had a teacher with such passion and talent for it.

Fair enough. I was not going for “it’s evolutionary, so let’s just do nothing”. The whole argument herr is thay laziness doesn’t exist, because there is a root cause. Well, this is just semantics really. Being lazy is not wanting to do something. Is there a root cause behind it? Sure. If you go far enough it’s just biology (allegedly).

Does tiredness not exist? There is usually a root cause to you being tired.

I feel like this “lazyness doesn’t exists” is there just because being lazy has negative conotations. I think being lazy is good. Sometimes you do need to wind down and save what energy you have. This ofc shouldn’t be an excuse to not do anything ever. There is something as too much of a good thing and all that.

As I said, not an expert on this topic. But I feel like you are combining two different things.

Doing dishes is persumably something you don’t enjoy and your survival is not dependent on it -> you conserve energy.

Boredom, I think, comes from the brain not having enough stimuli.

I see it as two different things. But you are better of asking someone who knows more.

I’m not an expert, just read it somewhere. But I’d guess it might be because our current lives are miles away from the ones we evolved for and may not get the stimuli we require.

Isn’t lazyness just evolutionary trait? The need to conserve energy?

Your original title didn’t say anything about games though. The Tower of London dungeons don’t come with a soundtrack.

Or maybe you just disabled music in settings and forgot?

I imagined it being thick enoug to not bend easily. But I guess if it could, either the portal would somehow prevent it or expire

Well then I fucked up I guess :D don’t remember this detail

Best use would be to get two steel plates or something, of apropriate dimensions for portals and shoot them there. Now I have two portals I can move as I please and where I please

I’m a layman in terms if AI but I think it can be a useful tool, if used in proper context. I use it when I struggle to find something by regular internet search. The fact you can search in a conversational style and specify as you go on what you need is great.

I feel it is pushed into contexts where it has no place and where it’s usefulness is limited or counterproductive.

Then there is the question of the inproper use of copyrighted material which is terrible

Came here to say this! My collection is MIA and it still makes me sad thinking about it.

Not an expert, I just said what I heard. But how many people would be able to make fuel at home and be confident enough to pour it in their tank? I imagine there would also need to be some regulations on this.

Buy again - not an expert.

Afaik there are such fuels, but are much more expensive. From what I read it could shift and rich will be able to ride vehicless with combustion engines using eco fuel, while us plebs will drive electric

The only thing could make us drop “us versus them” mentality is a giant alien force more violent and sick than anything you can imagine.

Even if this’d unite humanity, it would in the end still be us vs. them (us being humanity).

What kind? Doing HEMA myself, though not as much as I’d like

Federation is a pretty unique concept when learning about it and can be confusing at first. Then after you understand it, you need to choose an instance from god knows how maby and you don’t even know how to find what is out there. The first 2-3 days of my migration to lemmy was research. And while it is not hard with just a bit of tech literacy, it’s not as easy as finding one site and register - which can be easily done by most people with little tech literacy.

People have just completely lost any semblance of tech literacy.

I think you heavily overestimate the technical literacy of most people. I’d say majority started with 0 and stayed that way, because they only ever use stuff that causes little friction so that even they can use it. It’s not that people lost it, it’s that the way tech evolved it allowed people with none to go in.

I agree with the general notion that it is a nice filter for the feddiverse and might keep some of the most stupid at bay - at least for a while.
