Sex work is legal where I live. Nevertheless there is a lot of crime related to the sex work sector, human traficking, sexual abuse of minors, gangs etc. However I think it would be much worse if it was not regulated in anyway. My personal opinion - I would rather live in a world without it. Personally I would never go to a hooker. Most important thing though is that sex workers can decide for themselves and are not forced to do sex work (may it physical force, drug addiction or just no other way financially)
In my field we use AI a lot for classification task that would need too much manual labour otherwise. We train the model for a specific task which will stay the same for a long time. We use statistical models to validate the results, and they are correct. The model will always be used for this task and we are happy we can use it. We actually do not care how the model did it, we are only interested in the result. Using XAI (explainable AI) we can actually can get pretty far in answering the question how the model works “mathematically” if we wanted. But of course we cannot infer causality from it.
There are so many tasks that can be solved by AI that are not critical, I see no reason why we should not use it in science until we found the real math behind the processes. The topics that are covered by media have to be discussed critically, the whole debate around GPT and the huge models big tech is building, but there is so much use of AI in other uncritical fields the public is just not aware of.
A CEO earns 354x the income of a normal worker in the US. It’s really insane what happens over there. I’m really glad a CEO in Germany only earns 154x the income of a normal worker, much more fair over here!
I’m kidding, we are all fucked. US citizen say a ratio 6.7 would be justified, Germans say 6.3.
I mean the top comment is a guy who was banned because of his opinion on gender/sex transition… And the person you answered to expressed their opinion on that topic. Why would they talk about nose jobs or whatever? If you want to discuss these topics why not ask them about it instead of assuming their political agenda? Not saying I agree with them, but that’s not how debates work.
Sometimes I go shopping for groceries and see something I like, then I see it is Nestlé - I am actively boycotting it. Same with Amazon, I actively order in other shops and pay 10€ more just to not support Amazon.
On the other hand I do not but olives, not because I boycott them - I just don’t like the taste of olives. Same is with Facebook or Instagram, I do not feel a need for it, I just don’t care for their products. Does that make sense?
btw. I fucking love olives, just tried to make a good example
