Thinking I had the answer to everything and that I was the only one who was “thinking logically”. Emotions were weak and irrelevant, the only things that mattered were facts (i.e. anything that I believed). I swear to god, if those cunts like Jordan Peterson had gotten a hold of me I would’ve turned even more insufferable. As it stood, I basically just became a mostly far-left cringe lord with exactly zero understanding about how the world actually works. Luckily I’ve learned since then.
Not nearly as bad, if at all. I drink a lot of tea on work days (probably over a liter) and have never had issues with that. I don’t regularly drink energy drink or cola etc, but he times that I had them also didn’t have the same effect.
While caffeine also doesn’t necessarily make my body happy, I do think that there’s something else that upsets my body when drinking coffee. Maybe something to do with dehydration or histamine intolerance. Idk.
Edit: hmmm but apparently black tea and green tea are also high in histamine and I drink a lot of that. It remains a mystery
Coffee :(
The “virus wombo combo” of mono and COVID fucked a lot of things up permanently, but most of them have rebounded to an acceptable state. Whenever I drink coffee it fucks me up, even decaf coffee. Makes me feel tired as hell, stressed, overstimulated. It also seems to last for almost a full day. Drink coffee in the morning, and I have a big chance of sleeping badly.
Not that it’s guaranteed to hold me back…
Every now and then the sane part of my brain forgets to pay attention and my coffee craving gets the better of me.
That it’s something that happens to all of us does not make it any easier to process. You still lose someone you love, sometimes very abruptly and while they could’ve easily lived years longer without an issue. You will never be able to speak to them, to see them in front of you, to hear their thoughts, to make new memories Witt them. Sometimes it also makes you lose a support network, a pivotal person that made your life better.
It may be normal, but he mental impact will in many cases be huge.
I’m aro/ace and honestly same. I refuse to use any longer acronym because to me it sounds silly.
In a similar fashion, I’m also not a major fan of the pride flags with more than the rainbow. It’s fine for special occasions in order to draw attention to a cause that needs it, but not as the default. Adding black stripes, the trans flag, and intersex flag all at the same time seems ridiculous to me, and it only invites other groups to feel left out. Adding the black stripes, the trans flag, the intersex flag, or whatever to the flag for some event, protest, or personal reason is great but imo we shouldn’t permanently muddy the flag like that.
Yeah same. It makes the elections quite annoying because I agree with the local green party in almost every other way. But to me nuclear power is an important way to get reliable green energy. Something that still provides energy when the wind is not blowing and the sun isn’t shining. And to me some of the arguments feel way too “feeling based” instead of facts based. That its unsafe or dirty.
Preferably we’d have fusion, but until we manage to get that going I think nuclear fission is a decent alternative. Not forever, but for the coming 50-100 years until we find a better alternative.
Nothing too weird. Multiple manuals of objects that I own, probably the weirdest of which is a German manual for my Canon EOS 300 (I’m not German). And some machine learning papers, among which a paper from 1987, by Quinlan & Rivest, about decision trees (which is older than I am).
EDIT: Oh and another document older than me, a manual for the Minolta XG-9 that I’m lending from my dad.
Like what? Last thing I read he continued shipping heavy weapons that were previously banned from being shipped to Israel and some clown in his cabinet stated that Israël has some sort of holy right to the land. I’m not American and I don’t approve of the democrats way handling it, but the republicans so far seem worse.
I usually use wireless headphones nowadays, but there are still plenty of instances where I’m happy to have the headphone jack. Random parties where someone needs to play music via the aux cable, going somewhere with only some small wired headphones in my pocket because I dont have space, etc. For me it’s still quite important that my next phone has one.
I don’t. My mind always wanders into all kinds of stories the moment it’s slightly disengaged with whatever is happening around me. Whenever I’m cooking, travelling, showering, or whatever my mind always has the urge to come up with stories. When I want to sleep, I just lie down and let it take off wherever it wants to go. Usually it slowly devolves into chaos over the course of 5-30 minutes until I’m asleep. The trick is to not question whatever it comes up with too much, but instead to just let it go.
There are these nights where my thoughts do keep me awake though. Usually when I’m emotional about something. Idk what to do in that case. Usually I either just try to distract myself until the emotion dies down a bit, but I have no good remedy.
I got a Dopper watter bottle at work 2 years ago, which I’m still using. It mostly metal, apart from the removable top part and the lid. Before that I had a plastic Dopper, but I like the metal one more. Before that I used to just re-use whatever soda bottle I could get my hands on, which was apparently a bad idea because they’re not made for continuous re-use.
I haven’t used any other bottle, but I have no issue with the Dopper bottles. They’re quite strong, haven’t leaked so far, can hold enough water (for me) and fit in my bags.
This article is obviously from an American perspective, in which case e-bikes are probably a necessary evil to give kids more freedom. But from the Dutch perspective I’m certainly a bit scared about them. I see more and more kids racing through the streets on those things. These kids often used to go by bike anyway, but their speed was still limited by their physical ability. Now they have to put in less energy, meaning they’ll gain weight, and they’re also going way too fast with a heavier bike that they don’t fuly control. It’s led to plenty of dangerous situations already. People obviously aren’t forced to buy an e-bike, but the kids without one often have a bit of a problem when they have to cycle 10km every day with friends who do have one. So it becomes a domino effect where we end up in a worse situation than before.
18.5 celsius, which probably translates to 17.5 in some corners of the house. I used to put it on 20.5 C, but the insane gas prices and the limited gas supply motivated me to put it at the minimum I can live with. Although when working from home I usually put it lower (like 17 degrees Celsius) and use an electric heater instead in my working room. And obviously when I’m away from home it goes to like 15 degrees.
This is all caused by the insane energy prices here in Europe last year. I think my energy bill increased like doubled or tripled. While I can pay it, it feels like an absolute waste of money (and gas) to do that. We had to work together to keep the supply high after Russian gas stopped being an option.
Edit: this is for the Fall/Winter/Spring. Currently it’s at 16 or something and hasn’t turned on in months.
As long as it’s a bit of a sandbox: hell yeah. But there needs to be stuff happening, things to do. I love games like GTA, Cyberpunk, Just Cause, Stalker, because you can just go around the world and experience random stuff happening. Sometimes I don’t want a goal, but just a sandbox to create my own stories.
