“Never meet your heros.” is as old as celebrity itself.

I think many of my heroes live larger in my mind than they could or should ever fulfill; they couldn’t possibly live up to that hype and I wouldn’t want to take it from them through the actuality.

Damn shame.

(Side-glance at you UK BBC.)

I agree. I used it to move my vocab on enormously.

[grin] I get that!

I’m sure that there are others I used to like - I’m an old fart - but this is the only one that occurs to me now.

For some reason, my long term memory stopped in the late nineties. I’m convinced that there are series I’ve watched that I loved that it’s going to take a replay to remember that I loved the incoming theme.

There were several cult shows on BBC2 and ITV back then: Thirty-Something, a few about UK barristers, Moving Story. Damned if I can remember any of the theme tunes.

Probably get myself elected somewhere and use my privileges to screw the country for millions in the same way that my elected representatives have been doing since this century started.

Doing a decent job for the country’s citizens seems rather passe these days.

Lemmy is catching up on Reddit. The technical forums/c/r are not as useful yet, and not enough of the hardware suppliers monitor the/their Lemmy communities.

Once that changes over I don’t need Reddit.

The 'Mercans are not usually aware that there are other countries besides the two countries, Europe and Africa.

I assume you define patriotism as belief in one’s country because no other populated countries actually exist.

In sharp contradiction, most 'Mercans believe that they are Irish, a small town in Delaware.

Could be. How would your. or I, know?

Need to provide context or definition.

Left wing are designated by the colour red in the UK. Red means right wing in the US.

Are you actually talking about a colour or politics? Everyone knows that in the US everything is pro or anti Trump even when the person they’re talking at isn’t 'Mercan. Soup, soap, potatoes, carrots.

Or is it as simple as, for example, ‘Lady in Red’ by Chris de Burgh?

As does aural frequency range. There are some anti teen alarms which use high pitched sounds only teens can hear.
