More likely they would accept some of the most famous and established ones. Like them more or like them less, but I don’t see reason to ban them. It’s not like paypal or any bank are angels.

I agree. Straight up fascist out. Nobody need a fascist. But I do miss liberals (in the european sense) or conservatives /republicans (from US perspective).

For instance it would be nice to have people defending tariffs and getting some discussion on those, see different points of view and such. I like to be intellectually challenged, and it’s hard sometimes when I agree with most people here in most topics and in the ones I don’t agree people tends to be very hostile. I think that when most people think the same way that leads to some feral behavior to those who write any different opinion.

I don’t mean fascist or nazis, obviously ban those. But, you know, the real ones. Not the “everyone who is slightly more right wing than myself is a nazi”. I’m not right wing but I do enjoy the company of normal right wingers. And here sometimes it gets a little boring knowing that for most things everyone has the same opinion on most issues.

While nice to have and good for people who need it. I won’t think it would have an impact of very high statistical relevance in userbase growth.

People don’t want to admit it. But this is a very toxic place for people who are not of a very specific ideology.

And when confronted about it the usual response is “I don’t want people thinking like that here” which is a rephrase of “I just want people like me here”. Which is ok, but inconsistent with a wish for growth as the idea of people turning your ideology because you think you are so convincing it’s a fantasy.

I would say (and I know that is a controversial opinion this one) that the fediverse itself is a little to blame here. Not because the technical difficulties to join in that are not that bad, but because most people in the fediverse want everyone here to have a very characteristic political ideology and to be very passionate about it. Like 90% (exaggerating here)of what I read here and in mastodon are politics (more so politics from a very specific pov), even after I made a big effort to get away from political communities.

Most people have not that particular ideology or are not that passionate about it, so they take a look of what’s going on here and take the sane decision of not joining in.

I actually think that’s the bigger impediment for the fediverse to become mainstream.

Latin America. They are not aligned with NATO or Russia/China. And the level of life quality have greatly improved in later years. In fact many migrants feel cheated when coming here because they thought europe was better than it actually is in comparison.

I don’t think there’s a significant amount of people that complain about women led movies. Certainly not enough to just say “men” as a group.

Probably it’s just a low quality ragebait post. Because I also don’t think that there’s a significant amount of people that believe that “men” don’t like female led movies, first example that comes to mind is Kill Bill, most if not al men I know love that movie.

Edit: Funnily enough, I’ve been thinking and I don’t think Kill Bill would pass a reversed Bechdel test: “two man talking to each other and the subject is not a woman”. As there are little conversations between two man in the movie and probably most of them refer to the protagonist. Still a widely loved movie.
