The maximum real world speed for USB 2 is around 320Mbps or 40MB/s, but that only happens if there is only one device connected to the USB controller. 30MB/s is much more typical.

Keeping data centers cool is hard enough on earth. It would be completely impractical in space.

There’s always the option of using computer monitors or projectors.

I didn’t even know it was still around. I stopped using it when microsoft bought it.

TVs that do anything more than displaying a signal exactly as it’s input shouldn’t exist.

There are lots of MP3 players on aliexpress for under $20. You just need to get the audio files on a micro sd card.
You will need a PC if you want to rip CDs. You should be able to find an old, used laptop with a CD drive pretty cheaply, possibly even free.

Because of some HDMI licensing bullshit, HDMI is limited to 4k60 when using open source graphics drivers.

I have a Motorola One 5G Ace with a headphone jack and FM tuner. I can’t stream anywhere near my house because of the crappy cell service, so I use the tuner all the time. There are lots of decent radio stations here.

How well will the watermark survive resizing and compression? What about sharpening or blurring the image?

If the watermark is robust, then it would be nice if web browsers could flag any AI generated images so long as the watermark detection can be done 100% client side.

I couldn’t imagine ever replacing a PC with a tablet. Almost none of the software I need is available as an app and what is available just isn’t the same. The lack of processing power is also a big issue. A cheap laptop is much more powerful than an expensive tablet. Also, I don’t want a tablet that is pretty much owned and controlled by Google or Apple.

Running interactive software in the cloud doesn’t work very well if you don’t have a good, low latency fiber internet connection.

Low self discharge NiMH batteries have been available for a long time now. They hold a charge for several years.

Firefox downloads a database of URLs to block. It doesn’t send every URL you open to Google.

There’s no point in buying an ATSC 3 tuner if the networks are going to use DRM.

Over the air TV should be free for everyone to watch on whatever they want.

DRM will never stop the pirates, they will always find a way.

They probably have something buried in the terms and conditions that nobody reads that says they can.

Oh well, there’s not much worth watching on netflix anyways. I hardly ever use the free account that came with my cell phone plan.

An Orange Pi 5 Plus would work well for a small web server and some storage.
It’s got an 8 core CPU, 16GB of RAM, dual 2.5G ethernet, an M.2 slot for an NVMe SSD, and 2 USB 3 ports.

They could switch to LibreOffice, OnlyOffice, or Collabora and there are plenty of other free e-mail providers.
It would take some time and effort to get everything switched over though.
