I don’t think regular people would disagree with you.

Yeah, to me this seems like such a strange post. I can easily pick up batteries at most stores I go to and use them in various stuff in my home. Never thought about them phasing out right now, but when I think about it I guess it’s true, I see a lot of gadgets that just charge with USB plugs now.

That’s what we had thought too. Also the fact that it was a really generic looking red plus sign. How can someone trademark a symbol used by everyone? I guess if it wasn’t red, it would have been fine. There was a lot of scoffing going on in clinic.

My vet clinic I work at was contacted by Red Cross some years ago damanding that we change our logo becuase it had a red plus sign in it. It was the most ridiculous thing. How did they even find out about us? we are no big time clinic, only people in our city are going to know who we are. We had that logo for a long, long time. It was just bizarre.

No idea MySpace still existed. it just looks like some entertainment article website, weird…

Hrm it seems defederation needs some work put into it. If an instance defederates from another, there should be no way to see each other, one way or another.

Photoshop for me. Yeah I can get it running under Linux, but it keeps crashing, or is buggy.
And no, Gimp is not a good replacement if anyone goes there.

No, but I’ve definitely been curious as to why things were still working when they weren’t supposed to. So that ends that.

Reddit's updated rate limits going into effect over the coming weeks, not entirely on July 1st, as was expected
This is why apps like Boost, who never signed up for a subscription model are still functioning. **The Admin's Reddit post from July 1st is as follows:** (links edited in some areas as they didn't transfer will to here) Updated rate limits going into effect over the coming weeks Hi Devs, Over the last few months, we’ve shared [updates](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/12qwagm/an_update_regarding_reddits_api/) on our [Data API Terms](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/data-api-terms) and [Developer Terms](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/developer-terms). **Shortly, we will begin enforcing the previously announced updated API rate limits.** Rate limits will go into effect for all apps with usage above the free limit in the coming weeks, and some changes will be noticeable over the next 24 hours. As [we have shared](https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/141oqn8/api_updates_questions/), this will not impact non-commercial bots operating within free rate limits or moderator tools. **Free API access rates are as follows**: * 100 queries per minute per OAuth client id if you are using OAuth authentication * 10 queries per minute if you are not using OAuth authentication **The vast majority of third-party apps and bots fall into the free usage category and should not see any disruptions**. **Our free rates account for bursts in usage.** For apps that exceed these limits, we have exempted select clients (for example, accessibility-focused apps like RedReader, Luna, and Dystopia), mod bots, and mod tools. **If your bot or tool is affected unexpectedly, please reach out** [https://reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket\_form\_id=14868593862164](https://reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=14868593862164)**.**

Do you need 3rd party tools to moderate on lemmy? Can you do it on mobile?
I have thoughts of starting some communities, but no point if I can’t do it from mobile.

The reduced amount of comments here actually motivate me to comment more. On Reddit I wouldn’t even bother commenting on a lot of posts as they would have comments in the hundreds sometimes and I couldn’t see the point to bother just having my comment never seen in a sea like that.

Yes, Infinity and Relay still working makes sense since they are going subscription model, but Boost still functioning is an anomaly.

Edit: Apparently as per a post on r/boostforreddit which references a post on r/redditdev, Reddit said the API changes would take place over the coming weeks. Not completely on July 1st.

If you want to see the post, you can here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BoostForReddit/comments/14qaf7u/real_reason_boost_is_still_up_because_reddit/

I checked the BoostForLemmy community, but there’s no new posts discussing the matter.

Checked r/boost, it’s literally all memes of people joking about using the official Reddit app when they’re still using boost.

The dev only made a post on here advertising Boost for Lemmy, and never anything else. Apparently they aren’t very active generally.

So yeah, no clue on my end… sure curious to know what’s going on though.

Apparently not, as someone else mentioned Relay is still running as well.

I can’t wait for the Lemmy Boost app. Wish kbin had an API so there’d be apps for it as well though.

3rd party app for Reddit, Boost, is still functioning well after July 1st
Some users wonder if the dev will be charged for having it still up, others argue Reddit can't charge him without having signed a contract. Everyone is confused as to why the API change hasn't made it inoperable. Why is Boost still working?

It’s a holiday weekend in Canada as well.

There’s already r/casualama or whatever for that as well
