I went back to going to my news instead of having news fed to me.

Ultra low risk is possible with staggered bonds. That kinda money, you can live off the lowest yield of earnings and live like a king.

As a mortgage lender that helps clients relocate out of California, you cannot blanket statement the entire state this way.

You can live in the slums, rampant homelessness or live in paradise. You can live in suburban desert hellscape or on an absolutely gorgeous vineyard.

People relocate out of there all the time but some do move back, realizing they hated the area of California but not the entire state.

It took a year or so before the discussion of Digg stopped happening on Reddit. It’s already calmed way down from peak API but they keep on making horrible decisions.

You should be using !asklemmy@lemmy.world type links instead of direct URLs. If I click, it kicks me out of my app to where I can’t subscribe as I’m not logged in to that server.

Doing my dream job now. I hustled hard in my 20s and 30s with several internet-based businesses that were successful. In my 40s, a bout of depression occurred where I realized I was unfulfilled (money truly isn’t everything). These days, after selling the businesses, I retired for a couple years, blew through my hobbies and interests, became bored out of my mind and set out for a new path.

I’m now in a career that allows me to help people finance the first home (mortgage lender). In the career, I’m meeting a ton of new people each week, clients, referral partners and more. This is what I wanted/needed, to not be a hermit in my home working online, and to start working with others.

The job is challenging but it’s also very fun. At the same time, I wouldn’t recommend it to those that need consistent stable income because interest rates have provided fewer transactions nationwide. In the perfect environment, most struggle to make decent income for a couple years and I’m no exception.

Looking back, it turns out I choose a good path, but in reality, had I just started volunteering in the community, I would have been just as fulfilled.

Topics like this remind me of the pre-Google era. If Google can’t see the damage they’ve done, they deserve to vanish like the ones they’ve vanished in the early years.

Allow people to enjoy their experience here. When you start going down this path, you are confusing the user base that’s still learning a whole new platform. When I first got here, I said a lot of the same stuff, that I was a Lemmy world member, etc.

Yes (Lemmy), replaced it about two weeks ago. I only visit Reddit for super niche stuff while logged out and using an as locker with the old subdomain. I will never upvote or reply to a topic on there ever again.

The idea being to clean the driveway of snow while it is still snowing means that immediately after, it’s covered in snow again.

We have a sign in our home. “Cleaning a house while kids are growing is like shoveling while it’s still snowing.”

We have a cleaning day once a week. Other than that, we let it be other than daily kitchen duty.

I was just going to say this. Holding on to the illusion of power as a major moderator is about to turn into a shitshow. Even Reddit themselves have been caught using chat bots to sway public opinion.

Reddit has decided to make every bad decision (favoring profits) possible, all at once.

I’ll say the obvious… blocking WefWef and other apps that improve the user experience.
