I cancelled my contract early to trade in my 3G for a “DROID” and never looked back.



I got a saddleback wallet for Father’s Day 10 years ago and it is gorgeous. If it ever dies and they still exist they’ll replace or repair it for free


I have a variant of this I love. 2-3 lbs Chicken breast coated in taco seasoning and enough chicken broth to cover most of it. Cook on high for 3 hours. Drain the liquid, add half a block of cream cheese and half a cup of salsa, shred the chicken and add it to the now melted goo in the pot. Stir and eat. You might need some time for it to heat back up.

My other favorite is a chuck roast and a big jar of pickled peppers. Cook it for 8 hours on low. Shred it, strain it onto toasted ciabatta rolls with a couple slices of provolone and Dijon mustard.



It’s like posting on digg via Reddit except both are self hosted instead of corporate. Instances will also defederate if they decide they are incompatible.

Every instance is like a different forum, and they can choose to “federate” with others to provide a somewhat seamless experience. You only have an account at one instance but others recognize that and vice versa. Each instance can have communities, similar to subreddits, focusing on different content. You can follow, comment, and post in communities hosted on other instances that federate with your instance. Each instance has its own rules and culture.


Get a heart rate sensor (wrist or chest) and train by heart rate. Most of your cardio should be heart rate zone 2 on the 5 zone scale. This builds your aerobic capacity with minimal damage and can be done almost indefinitely. Harder efforts do more damage and add recovery time so should be limited to about two a week.

If you’re going slow you’re doing it right, it will suck less, and you’re more likely to continue. Your slow speed will get faster over time.

Does bounding up the stairs count? I definitely get air and I do it almost every time I go up stairs. I average about 20 flights of stairs a day.



It sucks. I like breakfast! On the bright side, two cups of coffee and I am not hungry for the next two hours and by then it is almost lunch time so I guess it works out. Brunch it is!





Some fields require a degree. Some degrees add significant value (you’ll gain more relevant knowledge in 4 years than you would working 4 years).


No YouTube except for how-to videos. They’ve never had it so it’s not an issue.

90 minutes of screen time they can otherwise use how they wish. They have to get their jobs done first (chores, piano practice, school stuff) and spend at least 20 minutes outside before they can get screen time.

They typically choose to watch shows or movies on Disney+, watch The Simpsons, or play video games together.

Edit: they don’t have any social media (FB, x, tiktok) except messenger kids.

My oldest is 12 and is very anti social media. I assume we will have to deal with it eventually.
