Thirded. Triced? Anyway, I havenāt gamed in front of a TV or monitor in almost a decade. All of it has been handheld (either 3DS early in those 10 years, or now with either phone or a Retro gaming device of some sort, or a switch, I dont have a steamdeck).
And I havenāt had a long gaming session in almost that same time frame. Games that I can pick up and play for 10s of minutes before I have to go be an adult again are the ones that get played the most.
Both sorta. I created my Lemmy account around the time Reddit started fucking with the API calls which affected Apollo, which was one of the best apps Iāve ever used. And I sort of split my time between Lemmy and Reddit, mainly for for the SBC gaming subreddit, but some politics and such too. And then within the last month I started getting pinged left and right for up voting stuff of all things, and then being warned about threatening violence (for saying Republicans should get their toes stepped on by the justice department).
But now Iām over here full time.
Having played Grand theft san Andreas, and Grand theft Auto V, the best part for me is driving around and exploring. Iāve tried doing the missions and such and I dunno, just not my thing.
So, a way I would enjoy the series more is like a free roam mode or something, maybe a crime spree mode too now that Iām thinking about it, where basically you could get away with whatever and not have your star level increase.
I guess just the regular game is a free roam mode, at least in GTA V. San Andreas locked parts of the map behind a āHurricane preparationā excuse till you did more missions.
This happened about 10 years ago. In my job, we have āslotsā that we occupy for our given speciality, so my āslotā is Engineer. Well I had just gotten my Master of Science in Systems Engineering, and my work had Team Leader System Engineering positions that had to be filled. Seemed perfect for me, the only caveat was I had to bring my āslotā with me, which means when I left my current group, they would be down a āslotā and couldnāt immediately backfill my position until the got approval for another āslotā.
So I send my resume over, talk to my immediate supervisor, who was supportive and on board, but I also had to talk to his boss, the manager over the group. He says he would love to support me in my career and my moving up and asked me to describe the job. I did, including telling him I would need to bring my āslotā with me. Well, his attitude immediately changes and he said no in a very gruff way and told me to get out of his office.
I stop there a minute, and still trying to be optimistic about it, I asked if that because my work and skills would be hard to replace and that is why he is acting that way, and that I would be glad to help train a replacement and maybe even do a part time split between the two teams until my replacement was up to speed.
He looked at me, sighed, and said it had nothing to do with me, he could care less if I left, my work wasnāt that stellar, he just didnāt want to lose a āslotā. That really broke my confidence as an engineer and frankly as a person to have this guy just dismiss me and reduce me down to just having physical body on his team. I ended up quitting a few months later. I wish I had some sort of karma follow for that, but I was replaced within a few days. Thank god my bosses boss didnāt lose his slot though š
Not tourist per se, but I live next to a large state university, and itās either the college kids themselves or their families do the stupid shit. Itās very wooded in my area while still being āsuburbanyā, so we get those people admiring the foliage in the fall.
In the winter when it snows, for a lot of the students and their families itās their first time driving in it and it shows. I suppose I can cut them some slack for that though if theyāve never had to drive in it.
Anyway, itās just mainly oblivious drivers, that are either attempting to find their way around so they drive extra slow or stop suddenly in the middle of the road, or the go ripping through the neighborhood because of the traffic on the main roads. Like, come on, there are kids playing and such, you can go 50mph through the neighborhoods around here with the number of kids playing. Iāve proposed multiple times for speed bumps in the neighborhoods around the university, but the council says āit will impede the flow of trafficā ?!? Thatās the fucking point, morons! Ugh.
