They could abandon their plans, apologize and then give everyone a cute puppy as a sorry, and I still wouldn’t go back. Spez and his group of admins have shown their true colors, and it’s because of them that I refuse to ever rejoin. Their actions this past week have been downright dictatorial, engaging in doublethink, hyperbole and creating rules when it benefits them despite no prior communication with the communities they’ve steamrolled by force.
As someone who recently had a 12 year old account, reddit and Spez can go fuck themselves.
It happened to me three times after using PDS. I ended up using a Tampermonkey script called Spaz’s Reddit Delete, which also scrambles all comments and then deletes them, with an appropriate window of time between each action to avoid triggering any anti-spam response. This seems to have done the trick, and my comments or submissions haven’t reappeared.
It really does feel good to not be constantly walking on eggshells out of fear of saying the ‘wrong thing’, or not agreeing with the subreddit’s agenda (and holy FUCK is it nice not having to scroll past the first 30+ unfunny quippy replies to find a serious comment.) I’m honestly happy this all went down. Even if it doesn’t kill the website (which I’m sure will be the case), they’ve shown their hand more than enough times now to the point longtime users like myself (12 years, personally) are unwilling to return. I like it here far more, and the overall concept is massively appealing to me.
Holy fuck, that’s a fantastic comparison. Re-reading that quote in Dwight’s voice fit far too well.
