Not an American but Trump was far more embarrassing to your international reputation than Bush. They’re both 2 of the worst presidents you’ve ever had but Trump is a whole different level of shitty. He’s like fascist shitty, whereas Bush was neo-con shitty.

Ok hold up so the way I’m understanding this is that its tilt (day) is slower than it’s rotation around the sun (year). Is that right or am I way off?

Part of me liked being love bombed. Through therapy I’ve been able to understand that this part of me is the traumatized child who desperately needed love.

I actually think community based sustainability is going to be a huge in demand area as climate change worsens. Depending on how much you want to sell your soul to the capitalist machine, there will be plenty of work opportunities in helping companies implement sustainability initiatives.

Also, social work and community development are widely applicable across the human services industry. You could get a job in government or not for profit organisations. In order to qualify as a social worker you’d probably have to do a masters, but there’s plenty of community based roles that you can get into with a bachelors.

Our first nation’s people are one of the oldest cultures in the world which is really amazing if you consider just how harsh the country is to live in.

A lot of people who don’t grow up here don’t know this though. I used to go on trips to the beach with my international student friends and they had no idea what those flags are and why you should swim between them.

In Australia it’s not just knowing how to swim but where to swim and when. A lot of tourists drown in the ocean here because they don’t know how to read the waves / don’t have an understanding of the local area.

Honestly some kind of waste management or water treatment business. Stable, reliable industry that provides an important service and keeps society running.

My personal theory is that neurodivergents unconsciously group / couple with each other. Happened with me and my partner. Genes that couple are more likely to co-exist. Either that or there’s some shared evolutionary origin of the genes that make up both conditions.

We will likely have hit 1.5 + degrees of warming in 10 years time so our society may look quite different. It’s likely that our supply chains will be disrupted by this and become more localised as rising temperatures / intensifying weather events impact our capacity to grow / distribute as much food as we do now. There may potentially be Pacific Nations that no longer exist due to sea level rise. We will likely also see the beginning of a significant climate refugee crisis that nations in the global north will struggle to respond to.

“Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations”.

I too consider myself better at this than the average person. I often find myself slow blinking at random cats in the street.

They are but things are definitely getting hot with China. There’s also been some issues with trade and diplomacy since our ex PM publicly called for an investigation into the origins of covid. China did not respond well to that and our previous government’s approach to diplomacy didn’t help. At one point China actually wasn’t answering calls from us.

We are walking a very fine line because we absolutely depend on trade with China but we’ve also entered in an alliance for the explicit purpose of preparing for a potential conflict with China. There’s absolutely no reality where we side with China over America. We would destroy our economy before we back out of our alliance with the US. We have followed them into every war since ww2.

Nah we just signed a big pact with the US and UK and now we’re buying all their hand me down helicopters and shit.

My country (Australia) has tied itself to you guys so if you go down we definitely go down with you. I’m 100% hoping the US doesn’t fall into chaos. We also birthed Rupert Murdoch and he’s played a huge part in heating up this civil war.

I’m in Australia but my uni has at least provided us with a run down on what generative AI actually is, what it does, and how students might use it. Most of the academics I work with really are not ready for AI but that has a lot to do with their overall tech literacy (which is surprisingly low in my field). I think once you learn about AI it’s not as scary. You just have to rework your curriculum in the same way we have with calculators. For intro subjects that require memorising and recall I think these assessments can just be done in person under exam conditions like they always have been. Online tests / exams have honestly always been easy to cheat on and this was before ai.

Cause 1% of people own 99% of everything. That’s never going to not be a shitty situation.

But also shit has been bad for marginalised groups since like forever. Now we’re all just getting a taste of that as our masters pull the ladder up from under them.

This and reducing flying is the best ‘bang for your buck’ in terms of individual actions imo. Even just starting by not eating beef is better than nothing.
