I’ll have to check him out, thanks.

Ambiguous amphibian has some great narrative videos, mostly things like rimworld challenges or the Sims. Sonny Evans is great for GTA and red dead stories.

I also really enjoy manly badass hero, his videos are often just straight playthrough of indy horror games with him narrating and adding comments, he’s got the perfect voice for it and really engages with the game well

I watch a lot of gaming YouTubers and very rarely play games, I find the content really enjoyable as background while I’m coding or doing something on the computer. They’re great because it’s interesting enough to keep my brain active but also it doesn’t matter if I miss a bit because I’m focusing.

I don’t watch the kind that say questionable things tho

It’s actually amazing how creative and funny a lot of them are.

I would really like a channel that covers start-ups well, like explaining their idea and what they hope to accomplish then going into some of the challenges they face.

Far too many seem to be nothing but reading the press release and the first couple of paragraphs of Wikipedia.

I get why he got popular but I’m amazed that the novelty hasn’t worn off

I have one that’s gone to work with me for about seven years and a bigger glass one for beside my computer that’s a repurposed glass mineral water bottle (Voss)

I am planning on getting a modest pelican one though at some point to support the channel

That’s fun to say but not really a reflection of reality, factories full of machine operators don’t exist like they used to - my parents talk about what would be like when the local factory day ended and everyone would flood the streets, fill the bars and everyone would be in their overalls… They actually still make the same product in a slightly different location, only about fifty people work there but they produce far more units.

It’s the same in every industry, and all the extra profits are going into the pockets of the owners who live increasingly luxurious lifestyles. If the huge efficiency gains we’ve seen in recent decades were used to benefit society then we’d be living far better lives, but they’re being used to buy absurdly over priced art to hang in super yachts and show off to their rich buddies.

It’s really weird when they do it while speaking English though because then they’re just wrong

You’re thinking of their com badge, the tricorder was the thing they flipped open to analyse a rock or reverse the polarity of a time crystal. It could do basic medical work, interface with electronics, detect life forms, determine if plants are edible, all sorts

I think I would hate if anyone apologised to me for how they treated me in school, of course I’d have to pretend that it’s ok and accept their apology, act like we’re friends now or something and wish them the best…

Then I’d go and be depressed about it, feel humiliated and annoyed. Probably anxious and uncomfortable too because they’ll be telling people ‘hey remember that kid we used to bully, I saw him and apologised’ maybe they’ll even make a social media post to highlight how great that are now and it’s all ok because they waved their magic word wand and fixed all the compounded psychological issues they caused…

I don’t think you should feel bad for keeping it to yourself, it’s not going to fix anything so what would be the point?

Over time I’ve developed a fear of that self reflective laying in bed trying to sleep time especially as when I get into negative thinking it keeps me awake far longer, sometimes hours of ever increasing torment so I find myself unable to go to bed before I’m tired enough to fall asleep quickly - generally that involves distracting myself with social media, YouTube, video games, porn, or even work but then I’m tired the next day and spend most the day sitting around distracting myself on my phone trying to avoid that limbo of guilt and negative thinking when I’m not awake enough to be productive.

I just find it fascinating thinking of the implications of that becoming as common as monogamy is. Honestly I’m fairly ambivalent about which I think would be better, it’s not like there aren’t endless issues with the current system.

You really think we’re going to tackle large systematic problems when we can’t even agree not to use language that excludes half the population? The tiniest attempt at improving society is met by endless pushback, but sure let’s play your game - give me an ordered list of the first five things we should work on

Exactly, if we went to defeat them we first need to destoy their source of power, if we stop buying bottled drinks then they’ll be so tied up trying to pay rent on their factories they won’t be able to afford the legislators. This is why they’re scared of us collectively taking personal responsibility

When I was in school people didn’t even know what a vegetarian was, like my parents had to argue with the school to get them to belive it. Now McDonald’s has a whole vegan menu (UK only, look it up online) things have changed so fast.

It’s getting so much easier that I really think we’re only going to see it continue to grow in numbers.

I live in a European city with what’s widely regarded as one of the best public transit systems in the West, most of the city was designed before cars even existed.

So no I’m not talking about America, are you trying to pretend that getting a bus in Barcelona, Rome, Paris or any other major European city is some magic fairy journey free of pick pockets, aggressive youths, creeps and weirdos? Because I’ve been on buses in all those cities and seen all those things regularly.

You can’t seriously belive that, endless studies have been done and they all demonstrate it’s incredibly clear which takes more resources

That’s not even close to true, I’ve eaten cheap in every country in Western Europe, I can’t speak for the rest but I know Slovakian and Polish vegans who post great looking meals on their social media.

Because in some areas it’s rare so anyone choosing it is forced to pay a premium, where it’s more common it’s the cheaper alternative because there’s more competition.

But also it’s so fucking dumb when people say ‘some people are against GMO for bad reasons so I’ll fight against them and say all GMO is great’ because the theory ‘make better crops’ is good but better for who and in what way? Better in that they can withstand more patented Monsanto weedkiller? Most people who support GMO have no idea that the genetic changes being made are often just to allow farmers to use more pesticides which then run off into water tables and pollute everything…

There are other reasons to be against certain implementations of them too, in Africa they’re making it impossible for traditional farming methods meaning the giant corporations are just taking over everything.

No one wants a nuanced opinion anymore they want to hate the other side for being dumb and to defeat them at all costs
