He’s really not thinking. I hope he tariffs everyone harder. Let’s get everyone pissed and ready for protest.

We’ve really come to the “You’ll slave away and not be able to afford anything” stage. It’s kind of exciting. I hate it, but I also want him to go faster. Crash and burn faster. Maybe regulations will come in after he’s removed, and we can possibly see some improvements in our lifetime.

Let me dream lol

Not defending AI here, but this sounds like people who are sick with some kind of illness are going down a rabbit hole with AI, and are unable to differentiate between imaginary and reality.

We had a family friend who worked with jewelry his whole life. He got some kind of poisoning from something he worked with. Lead? Mercury? I cannot recall

Anyways he started believing he was some kind of messenger from God. Nobody figured out it was poisoning for years. He was such a nice guy. He just wanted to help people. Once they figured it out, he was treated and went back to his normal self.

Every time I read more about Facebooks BS, the crazier it sounds. But I remember having a very similar issue with it. It kept feeding me political content I would get upset with. It was great at that, and so I stopped using it all together.

It truly seems like it’s a perfect storm of manipulation.

Ahh, that’s something I didn’t consider. EA did that recently with the Sims 1&2. Something like that at least. I hate that. At the very least, both options should be available.

In the case with the Sims, they didn’t include regional variants of the game, and they also were missing an ikea dlc due to licensing

Oh sorry, I wasn’t defending them. Haha yeah I agree with you completely. They are absolutely going to jack up costs. I just meant I don’t think Nintendo is generally struggling. They seem like a standout in the market

One thing that should be noted is Nintendo is roughly the 10th best company in Japan and has billions in reserve cash.

Do you guys think these companies will retroactively raise game prices for older titles?

There’s a couple of Nintendo games that never go on sale that I’ve been waiting on. I have a gift card, so I’m thinking maybe I should snag em now before things get stupid expensive

Oh for sure. I usually wait 1-3 years before buying games so that I can grab em on sale. It’s really quite rare that Nintendo games go on sale, though. So it’s kinda tough when you want to eventually play them.

I’ll sometimes buy games new, but as it is, most of my purchases are during sales. I’ve been mostly playing old titles. It just surprises me when I see statistics of Nintendo running out of pre-orders etc.

Hmm when I look it up with this bank of Canada website it claims a game from 2011 that cost 60CAD would be $83 today. I’m wondering if there’s other tools I can use to cross reference? Just curious how you got to the $200 number. Maybe I’m wrong.

The thing that is incredibly frustrating for me is the rising cost of games. Nintendo of all companies is starting the big push for raised game prices. Frankly, I can’t afford that. It was a stretch for games prior to this. But now I can’t justify it.

Games are currently $80 CAD. In some rare cases $90CAD. If they were bumped up by inflation from 2019 to today. Games would roughly be $96.Still hurts, but alright, sure, I get it.

But Nintendo wants to jack up games to $115 CAD. That’s a massive jump of $35 or 43% if my math is correct. And somehow, people seem to be able to afford this? It feels like I’m trapped in some kind of bubble where I’m just working poor while everyone else is making their money somehow go much further than I can.

I’m working full time, but I am supporting my family. I don’t have kids. I make well above minimum wage. I just don’t get how people are making this work unless they’re all just taking on extreme levels of debt

I agree completely. Over the past 5 years, I’ve noticed so many people have been able to fail upward with their businesses all because they have income that allows them to do so. It’s incredibly frustrating knowing that with the right backing, most people could likely be as successful or better.

I didn’t encounter Brendan till late game. If you’re curious, you could just look up where he’s located. I honestly thought you were referring to that quest, lol. It’s very relevant to this post

Lol, no worries. I guess my question is kinda hard to answer.

Good thing I’m hungry, then I suppose :) Honestly, my plan is to one day try to inch my way to some kind of sustainable living situation where I can reduce my needed spending as much as possible and just live in a way that reduces all stress.

I’m not sure if it’s practical yet or just a pipe dream, but it’s keeping me moving forward, so good enough, I suppose lol

How does one find work-life balance when the 40-hour work week feels like too much? Anything less than “full time” either doesn’t pay benefits or doesn’t pay enough to live off of. It feels like a trap

So interestingly enough. I work, play, and sleep in the exact same 5 feet nowadays. But I remember that initial feeling all too well from when I graduated and found work.

Similar to what someone else said, I’m always exhausted. I don’t think that feeling really goes away. I think the difference is that eventually, you kind of get used to the exhaustion. It doesn’t feel good by any means. But my brain has given into it and adapted slightly. I still hate it, but I’ve kind of adapted.

Do you drink coffee? I resisted it for a few years and then eventually gave in when I realized I wasn’t able to function well without it. Mainly because I’m sacrificing sleep during the week. Partly due to bedtime procrastination, and also partly due to stress/anxiety. During the week, I’m getting about 6 hours of sleep each night. Not enough, in my opinion

It also depends on what the rest of your schedule looks like outside of work. When I had to work in the office, I was losing an extra 2-3 hours of my day every day.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, though. It’s not a very fun time. I wish everyone could have a better work-life balance

The company I slave for hasn’t incorporated AI too much yet. But the way it actually has used AI made me question if we could have just used a computer program instead. None of it has been used in a way that seems game changing

Forza Horizon 5 will be coming to PS5. Likely other xbox exclusives will too.
What are your thoughts on this? Are you happy? Sad? I'm extremely curious. If you asked me this as a kid, I would have been celebrating. I always thought games should be accessible to everyone. But now I'm questioning if Microsoft plans to keep the Xbox ecosystem alive. Exclusive titles are/were the incentive to keep people on certain consoles. Currently, I think only gamepass and digital libraries would be the only reason to stay with Microsoft *if* they continue to make systems in the future. Additionally, I'm curious as to how this could destabilize the market. With no direct competition for high end hardware (other than pc/the steam deck), Sony can kinda do whatever they please.
