The top 10% of the population now accounts for over 50% of all economic activity. They have a level of income and reserved cash that is hard to comprehend and that just starts at $250,000 US salary and goes up from there.
Those people are spending so freely and so completely it’s practically the entire economy and we are forced to compare ourselves to them.

The extra annoying part is that in a population of 350million people in the US, 10% is still about 35 million people. So there is more than enough of them to compare to and for companies to aim at.

The 90% of us are the working poor and it’s not that others are stretching their money more they either just don’t notice or care to look or have decided they have enough to spend freely without any consideration of whether they can afford it.

Ahh starting out with your parents money.
The greatest cheat code of the real world.

Same.

I’m now 15 hours in, my runs look nothing at all like my first ones, and are rapidly changing each new run but also still haven’t “beaten” it once.

Feels like I built a skyscraper and yet still have to get across the grand canyon to actually win and it has nothing to do with the skyscraper.

Except now I have foundation.

Mercury. Be mad and dance at your own parties while everyone else loses their head.

People have been trying to ignore the world so they can get their high for the last several decades to the point where one the largest companies advertising on the internet is one where you pay people who label themselves as “councilors” with barely training to gaslight you hopefully to feel better and people know brand name drugs for helping them feel better and suggest them to others if you are wealthy enough. And been struggling to hold onto that sense of normalcy at all costs of the world.

And all of that avoidance meant jack-shit when the real world changed anyways and it didn’t just stay the same.

People likely feel lied to and that miserableness spreads like a virus of selfish people doing anything to prove themselves better than others at the cost of others.

God all the fucking rich elite throwing literally abortion themed parties around the DNC meeting before the election was so fucking tone deaf and the exact kind of thing people will use against the party in an election and yet they still went through with it because performance is all that they know.

Because rules and decorum are what “good people” think is most important to protect rather than people and actual morals.

Right but couldn’t TVs at least give me a choice? I’d love like a single eARC HDMI port with like 3 display ports and the ability to pass through USB data… Can you imagine how bitching that TV would be?

Yeah I had no concept of what to do in Terraria.

I am fine with games not telling me what to do cause I love Tunic and Outer Wilds but also there is still a somewhat obvious somewhat linear story available if you want it. The “do it yourself sandbox” games struggle to draw me in fast enough for me to not get bored and confused of learning an entire games worth of mechanics and optimization for no payoff before I put it down. And never pick it back up.

Terraria, it’s a hot take I think but I just dislike it so much.

I dislike the controls, the appearance, the sorta jank, I just find it to be a more boring Minecraft and Minecraft can already be boring. I don’t understand the love for it and I think it ruined a friendship with a group that really only wanted to play that and league of legends

Just want you to know that you have just made my life better and now I have a dangerous game ahead of me to not buy so many of these drives and completely lose all my money

I have like elbow length chemical gloves and wear n95s and still will walk away feeling woozy if there is a lot of cleanup to be done.

I only have one at the request of my significant other and think that sometimes this push to move everything from factory to the consumers house doesn’t always work. Some things need a proper setup and place and the home isn’t always it.

Don’t get me wrong I love the aspect of it literally making something from a digital mockup but would in a better world just want a space down the street to go to and have it done there. But makerspaces never really took off.

Nice! Never be ashamed of a purchase you actually use.

But yeah I still spend money trying a different tea flavor all the time but I know where and what my cheap Chinese greens are and have to make my own English breakfast tea but that’s because I’m not importing stuff and it’s easy enough for a flavor I can’t get otherwise

So I’m just gonna quickly add in on the resin printers.

Even a dirt cheap used anycubic model from years ago is going to be much more impressive and fantastic resolution than a standard FDM printer.

But the build plate is really small and the resin is super toxic. You will need to get something to wash the prints in and a constant supply of high proof alcohol that if you want to save money you need tools to filter as well. Then you should get UV lights for curing or you will have to wait days to harden naturally.

It’s not nearly as expensive as you would think if you buy used and fanagle parts and pieces of stuff from weird sources but it’s smelly, messy and more of a pain unless you really need super clean but small parts or minis.

Oh… Yeah… Good luck getting it to keep that lining.

If you want to do it for just the experience go ahead but also still don’t cook with it.

Tin sucks. Like straight up. Super soft. Scratches easy. Melts easy. It’s not nonstick and things will stick to it and the act of scrubbing it will potentially strip the tin off and make you get to enjoy relining it again, and again, and again, and again and…

Copper is pretty, but you’d have to really put a gun to my head to make me want to cook with it ever

Yeah cooking is my biggest cost sink but things you consume I feel are more fun to be serious about.

Honestly the costs aren’t all that ridiculous. Bar something like a Dutch oven most good anodized steel woks only cost like $50 at a restaurant supply store. Cast iron pans and some stainless steel weren’t too bad either.

The problem is just that you have to buy a dozen different tools that each cost a little more than you think and the total cost is way higher than you think.

I will definitely agree that spices are the most shockingly expensive part as my little side cabinet of jars probably costs more than my entire record collection when you realize that I have 3 different types of cinnamon and Hungarian paprika, and smoked cumin, stacks of dried vanilla pods and more.

I agree but disagree on it being expensive.

I have a temp controlled kettle that only cost like $40, some really nice french presses from thrift stores, and a couple really nice pots ranging from iron to ceramic but they were a one time cost about 10 years ago.

You can cold brew tea in a big mason jar and strain with a dollar store strainer even.

The scale for weighing was expensive but is super useful in a kitchen anyways.

So the expensive part of Tea is mostly just the tea but that varies all over and is down to taste preferences and marketing. And per glass is pretty negligible in cost. As long as you aren’t buying like the aged fermented monkey picked stuff.

Tea is a lot about patience and remembering organization of steps to get it perfect and that can be prohibitive but not cost if you don’t want it to be.

Oh my God… I’m running a jellyfin with 8TB… Don’t get me wrong I want more and will eventually figure out how to do it cheaper but that’s so impressive

LoL I feel that so hard but I’m way to cheap and frugal so everything I do is done used and on a budget to keep me from going overboard so I generally only end up spending a couple hundred max before it turns into a part-time that I pull out on occasion while looking for something to distract me from impending doomerism
