i remember these kinda discussions from a few years ago, when waterseer had a similar idea.

how well these devices work is strongly related to how humid the air is.

and the places where these kind of devices would actually be useful (like deserts) have very low humidity,

to the point were there is almost no water in the air to be harvested.

atmospheric water harvesting has only been somewhat feasible in environments that usually have better methods to get water,
and even there they are ineficcient to the point where people consider it a scam

its not on the same board,
but you could build something like that with a gp-2040 board and a raspberry pi running RetroPie

not sure if fightcade runs well on the raspberry pi’s arm chip tho (since you called it a fightstick instead of arcade stick)

ive been using the steam flatpack on silverblue for a while now.

there are a few cases where steam wont start (less then once every 2 months i think)
that usually are resolved by updating the flatpack.

otherwise i have not noticed any other issues.

i kinda doubt you are talking about the same people here(mostly)

at least id say im a “tech bro” not a hipster.

i never gave a shit about “all natural” stuff, i dont care about msg, preservatives or Transglutaminase (a.k.a. Meat Glue)

heck, i even thought that “pink sludge” is kinda based, when i first learned of it.

im staying optimistic, as long as it will be cheaper, the fastfood industry will massivly lobby in favor of it, and imo. mostly balance that out.

i will probably just have an awfull reputation, like mcnuggets “pink sludge”

in theory youre right.

but meat industry lobbyists woud surely try to take advantage of the outrage.

i vaguely remember a post on reddit on this topic.

something like “artesinal celebrety meat”

which of course turned out to be an “artistic project” or something trying to
“highlight the moral issues” with lab meat,
or some other horseshit.

EDIT: here’s the post i was talking about

since op hasnt given a source so far, i had a look arround.

my guess would be retro mode, neon version

yeah, it changes about once a day.

im not sure what happens when you select both “Astronomy” and “NASA” image of the day.

might be picking one, or changing after half a day.

the wallpaper is “NEW Astronomy picture of the Day” from the nasa app

i normally wouldn’t consider distributions to be a diffrent OS , but i think fedora silverblue has been diffrent enough to be worth a mention.

immutable distros seem like a rather drastic change, but it hasn’t been as jaring as i would have expected.

my biggest takeaway sofar has been, that flatpacks aren’t as bad & slow as i thought.

the only issue i encountered with them has been the terminal in vscode,
which (understandably) starts in the flatpack env.
i found a workarround that immediatly enters my toolbox, but unfortunatly, that broke just now.

im still unsure about the tradeoffs that immutable distros bring, (imo thats hard to judge)
but so far nothing has steered me away from it.

if i where to stop using immutable distros,
id surely continue to rely on tool/distro boxes and flatpacks

unfortunately, there is no need for endusers to see an advantage.

there will be an immediate disadvantage to not having it once content wont load without it.

i fear that the pressure of youtube utilizing it, would be enough to convince most users to use it.

also, most users probably wont even know they use it,
chrome alone has a 65% 85% market share.

its the platform providers wholl have to weight excluding at most 35% 15% of their users against the benefits of drm.

and with potential support from any chromium derivatives, that number gets lower.

not to mention, that some of these 35% 15% may switch browsers in order to access the content.

EDIT: safari also uses it, so its about 85% not 65%

holy shit,
and its literally just some lead mineral (lead Apatite)

Not only would it be a gigantic breakthrough,
it sounds almost affordable compared to rare earths (afaik Apatite can be lab grown)

i sure hope it turns out true after peer review

the worlds fourth largest lake was almost entirely drained by cotton cultivation

id worry more about how the worlds fourth-largest lake
has been almost entirely drained, and turned into a toxic desert.
because of cotton cultivation

they are doing that already with secureboot.

altho i fortunatley haven’t encountered machines yet where you can’t disable it.

Fun game:
google stuff like: inurl:/view.shtml
And look at what you find.

EDIT: now i get why people say google has become trash,
all the cams are burried between crap

EDIT2: Bing with instreamset:(url):/view.shtml had a bit better results

Afaik, there are already solution to that.

You first train the data on the outdated but correct data, to establish the correct “thought” patterns.

And then you can train the ai on the fresh but flawed data, without tripping about the mistakes.

Dont worry, it happened years ago.

I wouldn’t be taking about that kind of stuff if it was ongoing or recent.

That reminds me of an incident we had.
On of our customers sites suddenly had hundred’s of new signups.

It turns out a hacker tried to fuzz the site,
and since there was no captcha/spam protection in the signup form he created hundred’s of accounts.
