“Ten times closer” is pretty unambiguously 0.1. What starts getting more confusing is “300% further” which is technically 4 but many understand as 3 (try replacing by 50%, 50% further is 1.5 not 0.5). Also “50% closer” being the same as twice closer while 50% further is only 1.5x further can get confusing too, and it gets even worse with “50% slower” - is speed now 1/1.5 (= it takes 50% more time) or 0.5/1 (= speed is reduced by 50%) ?

Indeed, as I clarified under another comment

Tbh I know little about the topic and was under the (maybe wrong) impression than many sex workers are poor people that need to do it to survive. But then I guess the issue I was pointing is more about our capitalist society than about sex work

Does getting paid still counts as “sans coercion” though ?

A simple “a lot” would do fine. “Orders of magnitude” as someone else suggested would work too.

Math (I’m a graduate student). And “exponentially more experienced than the average” means nothing as exponential is a progression, not a comparison between two values.

When creating reddit account got randomly generated username and couldn’t change username. After 2.5 years using username got used and attached to username and when moving to lemmy decided to keep same username.

“This” comments (on Reddit and Lemmy) are not a bad thing. An upvote is supposed to promote valuable content, not necessarily stuff you agree with. A “this” shows agreement. These are different things, and hunting down the “this” promotes the “upvote to agree, downvote to disagree” mentality.

(For example I said “this” to one comment on this thread, which was an unpopular opinion I agreed with. I upvoted plenty of other opinions I found interesting (and actually unpopular) while not necessarily agreeing with them.)

Get a carbon monoxide detector

Why do I know the exact post you’re thinking of when you say that ?

Good luck “letting the event fall flat” when 99% of users are still on Reddit. Advertising lemmy on r/place seems more helpful towards the migration.

Muphry’s Law.

Was this one intentional ?
