Factorio - its a logistics rts but the pollution mechanic is different. Instead of just gather resources to build things which build bigger things, you also make pollution as a side effect. This feeds the native monsters and also evolves them. Managing your pollution cloud is a strategy. That or build massive defensives for when they come to eat you.
Itās not poorly written. I understand it bc I feel this way, but Iāve come to a different conclusion.
Iām OK not knowing everything. Iām not ecstatic about it, but Iāve settled with the idea. Experts exist for a reason and I have to trust in that. I canāt research every issue to a college degree level. I gotta make dinner for the kids.
Let your friend have their vaccine research but just donāt bother talking about it to them. Accept the fact that you donāt need to understand every facet of reality to live thru it.
Myst. I know, I know. One of the hallmarks of video games. I hated it. I like games that give you a path and let you figure it out. Iāve hundreds of hours into Factorio and itās kin. Portal! A puzzle game, Portal gives you A and Z and lets you figure out how to get there. Myst doesnāt do ANYTHING. Nothing was obvious to me. I didnāt understand where the A to Z was. I couldnāt find A, Z, or any of the other steps. None of it clicked. Years ago, I watched some parts of walk throughs and I did not understand how I was supposed to know the things they were doing. None of it made any sense to me.
Been playing Nintendo since I could remember. Thatās like everyone elseās story.
However, I took a break. 1st kid was born and I wanted to focus on them. 5 years, no gaming⦠But Factorio⦠You see, thatās where the trouble began to grow. That factory. That damned factory.
edit: fellow engineers, check the FFF blog, theyāve released news of the expansion!
The core of my hobbies is learning how something is made or done. I learned to bake bread and sourdough by making tons of loaves. I learned to make my own beer. 3d printing is my peek into manufacturing industrially even though its a mere taste. I do meal prep to understand packaging and distribution.
I wouldnāt say itās fun, most of the time, but it is incredibly satisfying and fulfilling.
How? Why? What? Never stop asking.
This is the one I use to prove my old nerd cred, lol
