I’m using Posteo and have absolutely no problem with it. The base price is 1€/month and for my purposes I haven’t needed to buy any extra stuff (like extra space or aliases). It also allows access via mail clients by IMAP and POP, which is something I’ve seen many popular gmail alternatives not providing, despite being IMO a pretty important feature.
You mentioned storage space is important for you. The default size is 2.0 GB, but you can acquire more by paying +0,25€/month for every extra gigabyte up to a maximum total of 20 GB.
It should be noted however that it is a German company and therefore has to comply with German laws.
The one thing I’m not really convinced by is their approach to spam. The web interface doesn’t provide any way to define rules to filter out spam except for filter exceptions, but the service already filters out spam for you and it will never reach your inbox. I would normally think that’s a bad idea, but I’ve never received any spam nor have I noticed any mail going missing (except for my lemmy.ml registration mail which I remember I had problems with but I don’t remember if it was Posteo’s fault and if yes if it was their spam filter in which case it could be allowed to reach your inbox by adding it as an exception).
I don’t understand. You are on lemmy.ml, which is an instance that does not display slurs in an effort to create a better social environment. It is totally automatic, and doesn’t involve an angry mod manually changing them, because if there really were to be a problem with your post, then the entire post/comment would simply be removed. If you disagree with this, then lemmy.ml isn’t for you, but don’t worry there are many other instances ou there.
I don’t spend 15, but I do spend more than 5. In my case most of the time spent is lathering up, i.e. the time when the water isn’t running. Do you count that in your five minutes? And how do you shave in the shower? Do you have a mirror in there? How doesn’t it get all fogged up?
Edit: Now that I think of it, a small mirror in a shower could work, you simply have to pass it through cold water when you want to shave.
Not sure, if someone who says this when describing how they use their computer: https://stallman.org/stallman-computing.html:
I generally do not connect to web sites from my own machine, aside from a few sites I have some special relationship with. I usually fetch web pages from other sites by sending mail to a program (see https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/womb/hacks.git) that fetches them, much like wget, and then mails them back to me. Then I look at them using a web browser, unless it is easy to see the text in the HTML page directly. I usually try lynx first, then a graphical browser if the page needs it.
Would really be keen on socializing on a platform like Lemmy, even if it is open-source/free. :D
I think JT, from Second Thought and the Deprogram, made an AMA over on Hexbear, a fork of Lemmy. (https://www.hexbear.net/post/240228) I wonder what happened to the efforts to add federation to hexbear.
I have no difficulty with the “basic” canoes, but I struggle with the long and thin ones, where I can’t even keep myself upright for longer than 30 seconds, before capsizing, having tried a few times. Is boating not my thing?
