Here from Reddit–might stay a while.
I wonder how much is a result of people just blindly clicking through not realizing they have to physically manipulate the response options to move the choice to the top. First time interacting with that site and it is an incredibly stupid user interface.
Re: headphone jacks, its 2023. If someone still demands an unshielded analog electrical connection for their headphones, I have zero sympathy for them. Its like demanding cars have a dedicated hitch to connect a horse.
You’re a fucking moron for believing this. It is literally only advantageous to the owners and investors in everyone keeping their wages secret. Obviously the activity described by OP is pretty dumb but to the larger point everyone should openly discuss how much they earn, only detriment is showing how unequal and stagnant wages are.
there is really no logical reason. Working “in the office” is basically a bunch of distractions from idiot coworkers who don’t know that email / instant messaging apps exist + trying to figure out what is for lunch and planning how to spend the hour+ coming in / going home.
Frankly the push is likely just because so many companies have invested in the real estate and infrastructure to make a physical office function that they feel they need to make that investment worth while, plus the inertia of old people not willing to just accept that things can be done differently. Similar thing with a 4 day work week, countless studies and actual implementations have proven that it is vastly more productive for companies and preferable for employees, but it will never be implemented in the US because we are conditioned to think running yourself ragged for your job is somehow a moral necessity.
In my personal opinion, anyone who is a wage slave that claims to “prefer going to the office” is probably someone who doesn’t now how to do their job without bothering their coworkers with basic questions they should know the answer to and/or is so devoid of meaningful personal relationships they only have their coworkers to interact with.
Work is for chumps.
I am an American. There are none other than ensuring the ruling class continues to wield unbalanced power over the masses.
Upon the founding of this country the office of president was very severely limited in what its function was (technically still is, which has been the great grift of American politics—true power is in congress but no one pays attention to congressional elections).
Nowadays the presidency has expanded a bit from its original design, to the point that it really should be a directly elected office, but it is very difficult to change the constitution of this country so the electoral college remains.
Yeah but this is the same reason Pluto is no longer a planet. Definitions matter, and every single beverage that humans consume is mostly water so, where is the line drawn on saturation of additional components? We need a DEFINITE line. Also I am in the camp that every beverage is “[Additive]-water” and anything that crosses the “not-water” barrier becomes “soup” until it is a baked good or building material.
Well that’s not really an easy option when you don’t own the computer you’re working on. Also again, the fact that the only way to enable the functionality is to pay for a third party app is pretty shitty and a major development oversight (and akin to the fact that IPadOS still to this day does not have a built in calculator because Steve Jobs said “why would anyone need to use a calculator on their iPad when they could use their iPhone?” Over a decade ago.
Apple makes some great products, but also makes some really bad design choices and continues to double down on them.
I am only ashamed of the energy I spent feeling ashamed of my tastes.
