It’s so absurdly big. Our galaxy (the Milky Way) is estimated to have between 100 and 400 billion stars in it. For a long time we thought our galaxy was all there was, it wasn’t until 1925 when Edwin Hubble was able to prove that M31 was not a nebula or cluster of stars in our galaxy, but in fact an entirely different galaxy altogether that we realized there are more galaxies out there.
Look at the Hubble Ultra Deep Field picture
This was a taken by pointing the Hubble Space Telescope at a basically empty bit of space 2.4 by 2.4 arcminutes in size (for comparison, the moon has an apparent size of about 30 arcminutes, or half a degree). So an absolutely tiny part of the sky. It contains about 10.000 galaxies.
The observable universe is estimated to have between 200 billion and 2 trillion galaxies in it, with on average about 100 billion stars per galaxy. It’s absolutely mind blowing.
So even if I wanted to learn, what are my options? Buy an entire car just to learn?
I would expect the driving school to have a manual. That’s how it works here. It doesn’t matter what car your family or friends own, you can’t take driving lessons in an unmodified car anyway. You need a car with dual controls and a licensed instructor.
Only people that want to respond yes and brag about it
How can you brag about being able to drive a manual car? It’s a basic life skill that almost everyone has (at least here in Europe). It would be like bragging you’re able to tie your shoe laces. My 70 year old mom drives a manual.
It used to be the other way around: since manual is the norm here, the only people who drove an automatic were those with some kind of physical or mental disability. If you drove an automatic people would assume something was wrong with you. Nowadays this stigma no longer exists and manual transmissions are becoming more accepted, but still uncommon outside of EVs.
I would respond “So are you going to teach me?”
Is that even allowed? Here you either do your driving test in a manual, in which case you already know how to drive one, or you do your test in an automatic and you aren’t allowed to drive a manual. You’d have to take lessons (with a licensed instructor) and do a new driving exam.
Driving an automatic when you’re not used to it can also be quite scary as half the controls you need to operate the car are missing. Took me a while to get over the feeling of not being able to stop the car, it feels super weird to just keep the brake pressed until it stops without it stalling.
Triangeljosti.
The Jostiband is a Dutch orchestra for people with a developmental disability, mainly people with down syndrome.
A [triangle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_(musical_instrument\)) , or triangel in Dutch, is possibly the simplest instrument you can think of.
So calling someone a ‘triangeljosti’ is basically comparing them to someone who plays the simplest possible instrument in a band for developmentally disabled people.
Wear a condom.
There is nothing you can do to reduce your carbon footprint that comes even close to having no or fewer children.
You can get rid of your car, stop eating meat, recycle as much as you can and so on, but the impact of that together is a fraction of the reduction you can achieve by simply not creampieing your gf/wife.
You’ll also save a ton of money and you don’t have to deal with any annoying kids so it’s a win/win all around.
It’s different from a deep fryer because an airfryer isn’t a fryer at all. It’s literally just a small convection oven + clever marketing.,Most people I know already have a convection oven in their kitchen so there really is little point to getting an additional one that just takes up space on the counter.
Oven (or airfryer) fries and snacks aren’t even close to being as good as deep fried. Especially the bitterballen and kroketten are bad. Because it’s not actually frying, but baking, you don’t get the nice thin crunchy outside, to compensate for this they make special airfryer versions of these but those have a really thick outer crust to give that crunchiness and it just doesn’t work. Same goes for oven fries, they have this artificial layer on the outside to give it some crunch but that’s just not very good.
I just don’t get any of it. If you want to eat junkfood, eat junkfood. If you want to be a little healthier, then eat it less often. There are plenty of actually healthy snacks that aren’t a gross artificial version of proper junkfood.
Data communication speeds have always been in bits/second. No marketing teams involved, it’s just the most logical way.
