That’s just the efficiency of the free market.

If my time would be better spent coding than being in the meeting I just decline. It depends on the culture of the org though if that kind of approach is ok or not.

I don’t think it’s silly to be frustrated by it, also I think it’s fine to think it’s no big deal. This has been discussed pretty much to death by this point but I think what it comes down to is different people have different levels they are willing to take their suspension of disbelief to during a movie and that’s fine. For me, it was a frustrating but beautiful scene that seemed to cause a lot of important plot points even in other movies to no longer really make sense (why go for the death star exhaust with a fighter squadron when you can have a ship hyperdrive through the middle of it for example). Maybe I was already biased against it and it wouldn’t have been a big deal in isolation, but taken with everything else that had happened up to that point made it more frustrating, I don’t know.

Anyway, I’m glad you were able to look past it and just enjoy the scene as it was intended, I wouldn’t wish disappointment on anyone but unfortunately that’s mostly what I got from this scene and the sequel trilogy as a whole.

I actually agree that the holdo maneuver was brilliantly shot, absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately for me it was kinda ruined because it made no sense in the context of the IP.

It’s like if you have horrible writing expertly delivered and acted, you can admire the actors skill but still the scene doesn’t hit for you. So I think it’s a pretty understandable take, as is really enjoying the visuals of the scene in the moment.

Comedy gold. Literally in the opening crawl and then some background character was like “I don’t know, dark force powers, cloning or some shit” and that was all we got 🤣

It took me too long to adopt this mindset with my own family.

You can’t control the past so there’s not much point stressing out over it. Learn what you can from it and apply those learnings in the present where you can actually change things. If you feel you didn’t do enough social things, maybe try joining clubs, being more proactive with organising things with your friends or something else that works for you.

Everyone’s experience is different and it doesn’t mean you did it wrong, you just focused on the things that made more sense to you at the time. Maybe you are realising you didn’t value some other things enough and that’s ok, you can bring those learnings forward.

Congrats on coming into your final year btw and good luck!

Well, I guess we can’t all be as humble and level headed as you.

Fair enough, I agree a lot of the western countries do messed up shit and should definitely be held to account. I just don’t have such a rosy eyed view of the dictatorships of the world either (glad you were able to circumvent the censorship laws while you were there btw although not sure why you would want to do that? Do you disagree with the states views?). I’d also suggest trying to stay away from the saviour retoric though, it’s never healthy no matter who is using it and in this case it just comes across as a bit of a bad joke if I’m honest, particularly as I don’t even live in a western country.

Anyway, India is a really beautiful place, wish you and your folks all the best.

Hong Kong used to be at #3 while USA was at #17. How come the very day Hong Kong gets freed of UK colonialism after more than 90 years, and implements National Security Law to protect itself, its “freedom” drops down?

I think this would be useful for you to reflect on.

Also Wikipedia has a great article on Gish galloping if you’re in a country where you can access that.

Come on, mate. Hong Kong’s freedom index score is 42, USA is 83, Australia is 95 (source). At least try and avoid making things up if you want to seem like you’re having a good faith discussion.

Does that mean USA and Australia don’t have problems? Of course they have problems, big ones even, you mentioned some genuine problems here in your comment. That’s not the issue at hand though. Nobody is claiming these countries are problem free. It’s you who is claiming certain news outlets are untrustworthy propaganda pieces. You made a claim, got a reasonable response and now it seems you are gish galloping.

It’s starting to feel like you have an agenda though to be honest. I personally find your assertion that people who love BBC/CNN are incapable of criticising them quite unhealthy. We can and should be critical of things especially things we are fans of.

I don’t understand the last part. If someone loves BBC/CNN they are incapable of criticising them?

Probably just clarifying that the mass was increased as well. Pretty important as the weight could increase independently of mass if for example the phone was taken to a new planet with stronger gravity after the phone case was installed.

I had to drag myself out of the house for strength training once a week at first. It took a while but I actually started enjoying it to the point that I go to the gym almost every day now. I think it helps a lot that the gym is like a 2 minute walk though.
