The PWA support on android isn’t great either. At least compared to chrome or even Samsung Internet.

I think, at last count, I had something like 50-60 docker containers running. I’m starting to hit the limit of what my 10-year-old hardware is capable of, so i’ve started saving for an upgrade. Lol.

I honestly don’t remember! Lol.

I went searching, but all I could find is his review of the sieve, which I’ve never watched. But, I know 100% that it was him and this sieve just in a different video…

The example I like to give for coffee is that I watched James Hoffman sift coffee grounds to eventually brew a cup with all the same size grounds. With no intention of ever doing that myself.

I just had to know if it was better!

Same situation here. Never got diagnosed as a kid because I did well in school. Then going through the process for my own kid, it all clicked.

Messing around with my server is so much fun! I’m always on the lookout for something new to self-host.

Ever been screened for ADHD by any chance? I do this same thing. I call myself a serial hobbyist because I just bounce from one thing to the next. I’m always glad when I lose interest before I spend any money.

I finally started looking into emulating on my phone, so I’ve been playing some games from my childhood. Mostly Alleyway and Pokemon Red, with a little Harvest Moon thrown in.

I never really saw the need for Termux, but now that I selfhost at home and on a VPS, i couldn’t go without it!

Also, I just recently started switching as much as I can to a self-hosted ntfy instance from pushover. I’m really loving it so far!

I sponsored it on github because I see myself using it a lot. Plus, the dev deserves it. The documentation alone is great, let alone the software itself.

Street complete is the main app that does that I think. It’s the easiest to use at the very least.

Play Store

F-Droid

Another vote for etar. I also use Davx5 to sync over my own caldav server, but that isn’t required.

I started on .ml way before the reddit fallout. Once I actually started using it, I spun up my own instance.

But, based on these comments, hexbear.net sounds like a fun place…

For what it’s worth, i’m running it on a VPS that cost $25 USD for the year, and it is running fine.

I didn’t want to open my homeserver up for lemmy.

Most of mine have already been mentioned, but here are a few I didn’t see:

Arch currently. When I came back to linux, I started with Manjaro because I heard it was easier. I had more problems than I would like so gave regular Arch a try and had a significantly vetter experience.

Going to try NixOS out at some point though.

I really want to give NixOS a try when I have some time to learn. I’ve been on Arch for a couple years now, and I’m ready for a change. Lol.

Any places you recommend going to learn how to get started in addition to the official docs?

I actually didn’t even think about the insurance deductible. You’re right that, even with installation, it would be less than that. Thanks for the info!
