wrestling in which two people lie side by side on their backs in reversed position locking their near arms and raising and locking the corresponding legs and attempt to force each other's leg down and turn the other wrestler facedown… See the full definition

When I was growing up, my dad would occasionally challenge me and my brothers to “Indian Wrestling.” The feat involved was the second definition according to Mirriam Webster (i.e. opponents standing statically and trying to pull each other off balance).

I’ve tried to look up people attempting this on youtube and elsewhere without success (it’s always the leg wrestling variety that I find). Does this have a modern non-ethnically-charged name? Do people not do this anymore? I need to know!

Yes, it is still a thing.

I made my step-son aware of that, but he is likely to soon be better at the game. I’m wondering if there are pros in the game of !!off-balancing!

Yup. A lot of pros go onto join Indian Olympic Wrestling team. Case in point https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phogat_sisters

They had their start in Indian wrestling.

I was exposed to “Indian leg wresting” in gym class like 35-40 years ago

I honestly need some visuals for this. Never came across this at all

I knew it as arm wrestling growing up. And what most call arm wrestling (hands clasped, elbows on table), was hand or wrist wrestling.
