Amen. I do love LEDs since their dawn and have a big-ass collection. But on every single stupid computer thing? I don’t wanna pay extra just because my mouse can have stupid rgb-lights. Or my damn RAM. It adds absolutely nothing, costs more and has another part that will go broke.

I’d say in this old question “are we bodies or do we have bodies?” It’s the prior. Deduct your ability to question your existence and…you just do. A tardigrade does have that spark of life too. But what is it? Nothing special I’d argue. Us speculating about this is just the epitome of that spark. A gift, a curse (looking at how our species acts, I’d say the latter)…but just something that happened and multiplicated successfully.

It does not always have to be obvious to you as to what their benefit in you actually is. Doesn’t mean they won’t see one in you. Sometimes it’s very abstract not clearly superficial. You will notice if you somehow loose that benefit. And yes, met many assholes. Almost exclusively. Hence the point. But I’m very picky with people.

Having lived here for over half a century now, and having met a ton of people and having get to know a solid portion of them better, I could safely say:

My wife and myself. The rest I would not bet a TicTac on. Homo homini lupus est. People are nice to you, even seem like “good people”, but, as another comment or already said, people are contextual.

Be a tiny bit different from the mass and you’d notice why. People are nice to you as long as you provide some kind of benefit to them. Now or in the future. Even worse if you have money and they know it.

Yet, Despite me being misanthropic as hell, I still do care about my fellow species-members (everything living actually) and do voluntary work for disabled people and stuff like that. And yes, I know that most of them would probably sell me to one of Dante’s circles of hell to get rid of their disability. But there are always some pearls somewhere in the ocean. It’s worth finding them. Tiresome and frustrating, but worth it.

Why exactly do you even care?

I own women clothes (as a male), my wife owns many men clothes. We dress however we like, we don’t care for labels or what gender is put on there. If I’d feel like wearing a pink hello-kitty-dress, I’d do so. And we’re genX and gender-boring. I would even care less if I’d identify as something else than my pants contents tell me.

Why I slightly care? Because life is more beautiful than devoting it to some deity that gives a rat’s ass about you. And I sometimes am delusional enough to think that cultists can escape. They rarely do because it’s so hard, but the chance is never zero.

And lol, no. I grew up I an environment grounded in reality. There never was any religion. And suicide? Hell no, my life is fantastic. I don’t work, I travel, I live every hobby that fills me with joy, I have a wonderful wife and no kids nor pets. I wouldn’t change a thing and most definitely not suicide lol.

Just for the sake of the thought you’d actually be willing to talk about this (which i highly doubt, as your nick already hints at): YOU assume life has no meaning because it’s an accident. Why does it even HAVE to have a meaning? Why can’t it just be? So your brain can make “sense” of it all? Also no one’s life holds any intrinsic value at all. And only because you joined some cult and follow some abitrary rules (that the next cult of the same flavour does totally different, so who’s “right” to begin with?) doesn’t give your life value. To this planet you’re as valuable as a leaf or said excrement. Which is, in fact, way more useful for nature than YOU are or ever will be.

PS: I find it really funny, that you use the word “reality” while you also believe in tons of unproovable fairy-tales from times long gone.
